Lesson with Bill Mckinney

I had my first lesson with Bill Mckinney today and I was not disappointed. First off, Bill is a great guy and we had a lot of good conversation throughout the lesson. My lesson started with a few quick questions to evaluate where my game was and what my goals were, then we went over a few simple physical tests to make sure that I didn't have any limitations that needed to be worked around. Next, we hit a few wedges and sort of got into the differences between what I had been taught in the past and how it is good for the 15 handicapper, but that it really isn't how tour players are hitting those shots. Then we hit some 6 irons and really work on shallowing out the angle of approach. I came from another TGM guy that had me ripping pork chops out of the ground. After Bill got me shallowed out I started hitting beautiful 6 irons that were flying at least 10 yards over the flag that I had just previously been landing short of. I highly recommend that if you live in the OC, you should get over to Marbella and see Bill. I have seen a lot of bad instructors and some pretty good ones, but this was one of the best experiences I have ever had.

Good to hear. I have often wondered about Bill the instructor vs. Bill the desperate housewives boy toy.

Just messing with you Bill!

This might sound sort of dumb....but who is Bill McKinney? Is he a Manzella instructor?

He is a long time member of this forum. He is TGM trained, I think with Ben Doyle and Gregg Mchatton, and made many videos a few years back with Bobby Schaefer and on his own. I met him when he hosted Brian this summer at a tour stop in Southern California at Maribella Country where he is a teaching pro. I'm sure I'm missing alot of information, but that is about all I know.

Quinn Fry

She is portrayed as a "cougar" as she is casually seeing a 26-year-old named Jared and she comments that "I love having a younger man in my life." However, a liaison with a golf pro in his forties, named Billy, is the relationship that Fry more seriously pursues.

this?

Bill is a fine instructor, and I've seen him a few times. Btw I don't blame him for any of my swing flaws - I usually come and get straightened out once a year and then drift away...

I also had him for just a bunker lesson session, and with the patience of Job, he had me try out 10 or more swings, before we found one that worked, and then he had me hitting to three different flags from the sand. Great stuff and great to experience.

With the recent Manzella socal tour stop where I got a major upgrade, at the end I had Brian give a few details to him, so I can get fixed per that lesson.

And also I've got a friend or two who've seen Bill, and we all have different swing planes and approaches, but he can provide the tweaks that these varied golfers need. I'd definitely recommend.

that is the one.

Thanks, Keith. Glad it helped. Jared, you are a ball-buster as always with that housewife shite. While having attended the Anti-Summit and being a GSEM(reformed) but not yet an official Manzella instructor, I am good friends with Brian, Hardesty, and Khatib who all stay at my house in So Cal when they are in town and have been on here for over 6 years...getting my balls busted by Willerson about being on tv.

I second that Jon.

Billy has an amazing knowledge base that spans from a wide variety of sources way beyond golf, yet he has that ability (like all Manzella instructors) to get to the real issue and fix people.

His is also a fantastic reality TV talent (famous in Australia) that could put us golfers on that map and remove the stereo types that people have about golf pro's.

There is no doubt that all Billy needs to be a Manzella instructor is a 'wetting of the forehead cermony'. (no Kool Aid)

hey guys, are there any links to Bill's TV appearances? I'd love to see him in acton;) Had no idea about his celebrity status;);)

You would have to contact Billy for the footage. By the way though on a serious note Billy is a man of many talents apart from his TV career he now teaches Josh Anderson NCAA Champ & State Am Champ when he is not on set.

Bill is a good sport and takes my ribbing well....even though he has no reason to. He knows I am just jealous.

I am glad the lesson went well.

Steve, Josh was the state am champ, but Tain Lee was the D3 NCAA champ.
I don't exactly "teach" Troy Kelly, but he's the best player in the world that no one's ever heard of...except for being #3 on the Nationwide this year starting with zero status...hip replacement and now he's bionic. Watch him, fellow golf nuts..I'm calling Ryder Cupper by 2016.

Only met Bill once. Bill taught me that a dog will not even drink Gatoraide, or Poweraide, or even Dogoraide, if such a thing did in fact exist. They will drink out of the toilet. I presume they will not drink Kool-aide either. Bill a good guy.

ahh, from the summit..they won't drink colas or mineral water either. watch them drink alkaline water though! just got my machine hooked up and you should see my animals guzzle that stuff.
and you: "i work in a liquor store."..did you get that job to cope with playing golf? epic.
