Lie angle question

The clubs I currently have were bent 1 degree flat because every strike pad I hit showed the heel making all the contact.

When I get into what I think is a good posture at address, with my hands where I like them and the club pointing at my belt the toe raises up about 1-2 degrees.

If I sole the club flat to the ground the club points to the top of my ribcage and I feel like I need to stand up (much less bend at the hips) and totally uncock my left wrist just to hold the club... it doesn't feel right.

I went to the clubfitter that I bought the set from to get them bent flatter, but he told me that the toe should raise at address because the torque on the shaft at impact will cause the sole to be flat to the ground. I hit a 5 iron and the sole was flat on the strike pad.

Is it correct to have the toe raised at address slightly ?

Knight,

The clubfitter is correct. The lie is most likely correct on your clubs as at impact, the clubhead will tend to torque or toe-down due to the stress placed on the shaft. The hands will also be slightly higher at impact than at address. To see this, just set yourself up at address with mid body hands and move to impact fix and notice that the hands are slightly higher.

Very good answer.

Thanks Magic. I did trust the clubfitter since it is his job. It is just nice to have it verified.

My impact fix was actually wrong regarding my hands. I was trying to keep them at the same angle, or height as address.
