I am very proud of my long-time pupil of ten years, Lindsay Gahm, who as a true freshman,
is off to great start as a member of the Indiana University Women's Golf Team.

She is 15th in the country in sub-par holes, and will be ranked inside or her previous
Golfweek Sagarin Ranking of 92nd after her strong showing in Austin, earlier this week.

Sure. 4 years of college ball was something I'd never trade.

I've only seen this one swing, was just curious about her potential.

everyone swings differently. it seems that there are more similar swings on pga than on lpga, imo. as kevin said, as a freshman to shoot in the 60s is no easy task. good luck and may the force be with her!

I didn't know Brian believes in the lateral back swing and forward swing. Her head moves a good six inches. I like this swing, good fundamentals.

A bit of head movement to the right is not a lateral move. The head has to move a bit to keep the top of the spine in the same location. The head may have moved laterally but the spine has not.

I like what works.

You've been on this site for a long time, you know that.

Lindsay moved less to the right on the backswing when she was young, this is something that evolved to take better advantage of her legs, and it helps her keep the ball from push-fading.

Another student of mine, Derek Sanders (below) has no head movement, and a much flatter plane.

I think the fact that these are two of my best players shows better than anything I could ever say about my teaching, and lack of a rigid methodology.

They both are ZERO PATHers though.;)

That's great to see. Most people, even high school juniors, have NO IDEA how tough college golf can be at times and for a freshman to be doing that is extremely impressive.

I disagree with you on this but I don't want to get into a discussion about it. We all have our own ideas.

You are very correct here "Jerry," her head moves quite a bit.

Just imagine what would have happened if I hadn't let it move...she'd have been playing point guard at a D2 school.

concur. if we put the cursor on the head and watch the backswing, and then if we put the cursor just below the chin, it is clear to me that her move laterally is not based in head or even neck but much lower, more like a lower limb pivot toward the right. which i believe many people do to some extent, except perhaps the s and t folks.

her swing does not have much moving parts, a good thing. i think if she is consistent with her scoring based on a repeatable swing under pressure, then this lateral move is not a problem but the basis of her success.

i think many people can benefit from watching her swing, particularly those who are concerned about how to square the club face with their hands and arms. when the reliable large muscles are in control, you can just cruise down the line.

jerry, i think zero path means people with hopeless outlook in life. just kidding.

my guess is that it is a machine lingo, meaning, it is not a swingpath that is out to in, or in to out, but on line at the moment of impact.

correct me if you dare! :D

Has Lindsay played any other sports in high school, because she looks quite athletic?!
