Pfft...whatever, that circle release is ugly *sarcasm*

I have plenty of her videos saved on my computer at home as you've posted them up through the years and happy that she is doing as well as she is. She seems to work extremely hard and it's nice to see that translate into results.

NICHOLASVILLE, KY. — Lindsay Gahm couldn’t match her opening round of 67, but the junior-to-be at Louisiana State University still played well enough to win the 16th annual Kentucky Women’s Open golf tournament by four strokes Wednesday.

“I still hit the ball well today, but I didn’t make the five-footers and putts I made yesterday,” Gahm said after shooting a 74 for a 36-hole total of 3-under-par 141 at Champion Trace Golf Club.

Gahm made 12 pars, two birdies and four bogeys to beat runner-up Sara Hurwitch of Union, who shot 73 for a 145 total. Hurwitch, a 23-year-old pro at Triple Crown Country Club, took low pro honors, worth $2,000. Tara Lyons, one of four University of Louisville players in the field of 62, placed third with rounds of 74-72—146.

Gahm, the 2009 state high school champion from Sacred Heart Academy star who also won the Junior Falls Cities title several years ago, called her 5-under 67 on Tuesday the “best competitive round” of her young career. She made nine birdies along with two bogeys and a double bogey on No. 16.

She expressed a thrill at winning the Women’s Open.

“It’s amazing when you look at the names on that trophy,” she said. “A lot of good players are on it.”

Gahm was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in her only season at Indiana University before transferring to LSU.

“That helped me a lot,” she said of the move. “I could play and practice all winter at LSU. Indiana gets cold. At LSU there are a lot of people who support you.”

She helped LSU finish third in the NCAA Tournament, two strokes behind Alabama and one behind Southern California.

Despite a five-shot lead entering the final round of the Women’s Open, Gahm didn’t try to play conservatively.

“No, I wanted to play like I did yesterday,” she said. “I wanted to shoot 67 again. I can’t complain. I played solid both days.”

Gahm shot an even-par 36 on the front nine and built a six-shot lead. She bogeyed No. 2 when she overshot the green and missed an eight-foot putt, then rebounded with a 12-foot birdie putt on No. 3. She bogeyed No. 10 when she missed the green, and she also bogeyed Nos. 15 and 16. She made two bad chips on 15 and drove into a trap on 16, then missed a 10-foot putt.

However, she dropped in a 12-foot birdie putt on 17 and parred 18, two-putting from 45 feet.

Hurwitch, who will rejoin the Symetra Tour next week in Syracuse, N.Y., had two birdies and said she played “pretty steady. I hit a lot of good shots. You just had to stay patient. Gahm played super in shooting a 67. That’s a great round and hard to beat.”

Lyons, who hails from Myrtle Beach, S.C., and will be a junior at U of L this fall, said she “left some putts out there a few times, but the birdies eventually came.” She had three birdies and three bogeys in her 72.

Nicholasville’s Emily Haas, a U of L sophomore-to-be who shot 75—147, played with Gahm and called her “a great ball striker. She doesn’t make many mistakes.”

U of L’s other players were Shelbyville’s Candice Wiley (75—150) and Katie Petrino (77—152). Bobby Petrino, the former U of L and Arkansas football coach, caddied for his daughter.

LSU junior Lindsay Gahm, from Louisville, coasted to the Lexmark Kentucky Women's Open championship at the Champion Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville on Wednesday.
Gahm, who entered the day with a 5-shot lead, shot 2 over par on Wednesday and won the tournament by four strokes with a combined 36-hole score of 141.

Gahm birdied nine holes Tuesday in the opening round of the tournament en route to shooting a 5-under 67.

"I was hitting it like darts yesterday, and hitting the 5-foot putts." Gahm said. "I just was hitting it really well."

She went into Wednesday's play with a five-stroke lead over Sara Hurwitch, Emily Haas and Abby Smith.

"I knew I was hitting the ball well," Gahm said. "I wasn't nervous. I was just happy to be out here and playing.

"I played solid both days, hitting control iron shots," Gahm said. "I didn't make as many putts today as I did yesterday, but overall I am pleased with how I played."

Gahm missed a chip-shot on the 13th hole Wednesday, but recovered with a 15-foot putt to salvage par. After getting bogeys on both the 15th and 16th holes, she recovered to hit a nice, 12-foot downhill putt on 17, to earn another birdie and stretch her lead.

"I probably owe that to my belly putter, now that I have switched," Gahm said. "Ever since I have gotten it, I have been more consistent with my longer putts. I was very happy with how I putted all week."

Gahm transferred to LSU after competing for Indiana University her freshman year.
"It's been awesome," Gahm said about her experience at LSU so far.

Finishing four strokes behind Gahm was Hurwitch, the top-finishing professional player.
"I played steady both days. I stayed patient," Hurwitch said. "The greens are key out here, so I had to keep focused and stay patient."

Hurwitch, who lives in Union and played golf collegiately for UK, earned a $2,000 payout for her performance.

"This is my third year as a professional. I play full time on the Symetra Tour," Hurwitch said. "Women's golf just keeps getting stronger every year."

Haas, a University of Louisville sophomore, finished fourth while competing on her home course.

"I definitely feel like I have an advantage playing here every day," Haas said. "It gives me an edge and makes it fun."

Sixty-one golfers competed in the tournament, which has been played annually since 1997.
Defending champion Taryn Durham finished tied for sixth overall (149, 5-over) and second among professional players to earn $750.

Former UK golfer Ashlee Rose finished tied for 10th overall (150, 6-over) and third professionally to earn $500.

UK senior-to-be Betsey Johnson (152, 8-over) finished tied for 13th.
