Listening to Hank Haney....

I know you are[8D]

And if you have just a fraction to do with how David Toms plays his 5 wood you deserve to be where Hank is at the moment;)

Well done.
Tiger said today after his 63 on the so called Blue Monster that he loved hitting the ball where he wanted. Looks like Hank Haney just got a little smarter!

Woods has great clubhead lag and a flat left wrist. How smart does an instructor have to be to strap two cheap flashlights on his shaft and get him on plane?

LOL, no kidding Tigger. What a dumb comment that was.

Tiger has been working on his swing changes for over a year. It was not a simple process. He can use any instructor in the world. He chose Hank Haney because Hank teaches Mark O'Meara. Tiger and Mark are good friends and play a lot of golf together. Tiger observed Mark and discussed swing theory with him. Tiger liked what he saw and heard and he ended up working with Hank. Hank was chosen by his peers to be the PGA teacher of the year twice. In addition, two golfers who have won majors feel that Hank knows what he is talking about. Mark O'Meara's swing has held up for years and he is still a good player. Tiger has said that he wants to own his swing like been Hogan. He went and found a great instructor and now the changes and hard work are paying off. He hits 362 yard drives and hits 600 yard par 5's in two shots for an eagle. :)

I agree, an unnecesary comment on Tiger's part. Indeed, in 2005, his driving accuracy is 55.5%, 148th on tour. Toms' D.A. is 68.9%, 23rd. Let that soak in Tiger fans.

I watched today.

Didn't see a "haney" backswing.

Didn't see a cupped left wrist on the downswing to 'maintain loft.'

and I SURE didn't see "parallel" planes!!

Very true...55.5% isn't hitting it where he wanted...he's a good 20-30 longer than Toms though- of course he's gonna be less accurate.

I'm not a Tiger fan either...but let's remember that he DID win today...

Watching Haney swing is even funnier. He teaches hitting the back of the ball with a square clubface toward the target in a sweeping motion. Last week one of his instruction scenarios was a carry over water, and he refused the commentator's request to demo his "tip".

....I guess 'not looking at the ball' isn't quite working out for him ;)

Actually, Hank is playing the best he has in years. He holed a sand shot out a couple of weeks ago when he was demostrating a tip on tv. Hank played golf in college and he can still shot around par on a good course. He drives around 270 yards off the tee. He has studied the yips with serveral doctors. A couple of major universities are looking into the yips. It is a result of a combination of factors. One way to get rid of the yips is to drastically change something. It worked for Hank. Now he looks at the ball. Not looking at the ball was just something that helped him get back to not yipping. Bernard Langer has done this several times to overcome putting yips. Hank is busier than ever now, so he doesn't play a lot of golf, but he can play well. I have taken lessons for him for a while and I visit with him every so often. He doesn't teach some of the things that people on this forum claims he does. If you had the opportunity to spend some time with him, you would find he is very well versed in golf knowledge. He is familar with Homer's teachings. On a full shot he does not advocate a cupped left wrist. On a flop shot you can add loft with a cupped wrist thru impact. I find that insecure people need to attack others. Hank is teaching the number one player in the world and that says a lot. Brain is a great teacher with many wonderful insights into golf. Hank is too.
