Hello Brian, thanks for the Short Videos. Anything at the Show that jumps out at you. Does TGM have a booth there?

The SHOW starts tomorrow!

The group in the above post are all in Orlando now, and my beautiful wife Lisa will arrive tomorrow.

The DEMO day was today and we saw a lot of good clubs but the standout was the new Nike Sasquach Tour and the best shaft (among many) was the Mitsubishi Rayon.

I'll report back after show day 1.

Oh...

Rover Golf's John Rohan-Weaver, GSEB will have a booth.

Ben Doyle will be there selling his mats and videos,

and The Golfing Machine will share some space in the booth as well.

The neatest thing I saw at the demo day was the "STRIKENSWIPE". Re-usable impact labels. They make them for the driver, irons and putter. After you make a mark, you wipe it of with your finger and you hit again. they last for several hundred shots.

Any of you guys check out the new Bridgestone J33 Forged Cavity Back irons? These really have my interest and I can't wait to test out a set. It's been 10 years since I've bought a new set of irons and I'm looking at these and a set of Mizuno MP-60s.

I hit two drivers well at the demo day. Taylor Made R5 and R7. The only one that Ben "Oily" Doyle really hit well was the Ping G5 12 degree. He has Mike Finney ordering one for him tomorrow. After he gets it, he and I are going to travel around the country and take on all comers.[:0]:D

I hit the sasquatch with the grafaloy blue shaft at the expo. Nice club. I also liked the new Bridgestone driver believe it or not.

My favorite shaft is the v-65. I haven't hit the rayon.

Bman-

Based on what you saw me do in Orlando, and extrapolating what I OUGHT to be doing after some more work, would this be a better choice for me than the Comp? Also, would the mid-kick Mitsubishi Rayon shaft (I assume you were talking about the Diamana 63???) be a better choice than the Grafalloy Blue 65 (lower kick, I believe)?

Thanks,

Jeff

Cool [8D]

Outstanding products from Rover, especially the Pure Swing!

And of course Ben's tape ;)

Not brian jeff...but no.

The Sasquatch "tour" is a higher COG model that launches lower with less spin than the normal Sasquath driver.

Thanks Jim; so you would suggest the same set-up as Brian's Comp - 9.5*, Graffalloy Blue 65S? Or maybe the 10.5*?

Honestly....you need to find a launch monitor and a good clubfitter. Brian's comp seemed to suit you well. I have a comp as well but a different shaft.

Hi All,

Just got back from the show, and as always it was wonderful to catch up with Brian.

I spent some time with him, and Tom Bartlett on Tuesday, before the demo day. I feel I can articulate where I perceive him to be as far as coaches/teachers go. He transcends the Golfing Machine!!! Now before someone gets on their high horse, let me explain...

I believe Golfing Machine teachers to be the best group of teachers out there.
I think some try to teach as if TGM is a method, not a system.
I think some take a pattern, that MAY work for themselves, and try to teach it to almost everybody.
Some just don't understand it, and butcher it.
Some try to make a square peg go in a round hole.

The difference with Brian is his openness to individuals' patterns, and a desire to build on THAT pattern. He involves the human element in his teaching. He knows his stuff as good as anybody, but doesn't try to force feed you. He is tremendously entertaining and FUNNY(for those Aussies out there, you'll know how big a compliment that is for an Aussie to find an American funny[:0];),very rare, very rare!)

As best as I could tell, Tom is on a similiar track to Brian, although with some 'stars alligning', he could be a player as most of the Orlando school could attest to. Ditto for Mike. And Janet and Jennifer were lovely.

As for the show...

I thought the new Callaway driver(X driver) was their best effort in about 10 years, particularly the sound;

I saw very little in the way of training aids, except those in Ben's Booth - yep, he took it over! Mat, Power Angle, and a wrist device(don't know the name-Tom got one);

I found an awful lot of simulators, fitness products, swing trainers, and the like where they expect you to spend a lot of money to POSSIBLY fix generally one aspect of the golfer's performance, and even then, good instruction should take care of the problem.
This may be my misinterpretation of the market, but some of these things could only benefit the top 1% of golfers.Interested in others' opinions on this...

What I felt was the biggest benefit, was meeting up with Brian, Tom, and Mike, Geoff Mangum, Ed Feeney, and a host of others, and riding the wave of information that is still very new to me.

Cheers all,
Damon

P.S For all you sensitive Americans, it is just a DIFFERENT sense of humour;)

Word on the street was that some nutty, Italian-looking fellow made 61 8-footers in a row at the merchandise show putting contest...

My first trip to the show far exceeded any expectations...truly a golf-nut's paradise...

Brian was a BAD putter. He then went to a Bernhard Langer kinda style (shaft up the left arm and grip the top of the grip with the right hand)some years back. He putted great like this. Several people told him he looked ridiculous, so he stopped. He went back to being a crappy putter. I finally got sick of hearing about it and told him to go back to his "bastardized Bernhard" style. He said no. Being a teacher he couldn't have anyone see him putt like that. I called B.S. I said you preach that you should do whatever it takes to do the 3 imperatives, so practice what you preach. So he decided to go back to it. So, here we are at the show (his intention is to find a putter to putt his old way) and we get to the Tour Edge booth where the are having a putting contest. We pass it by. But, while Mike and I am doing something, Brian goes back and putts in the contest. 30 minutes later he shows up and says he is leading with 61 consecutive 9 footers. We cry foul. So, he takes us back to show us. I said, "I wasn't here to see it so you have to do it again". He then proceeds to make another 43 in a row. Unbelievable! 104 out of 106 from 9 feet. Needless to say I will never again let him putt any other way (unless he can make 106 out of 106).

"Let the imperatives dictate the stroke"

It was also great to meet Damon and he introduced me to Geoff Mangum (learned some neat stuff about putting). Damon is a great guy and hits the ball really well. I look forward to seeing you again mate.
