Loop swing

Brian, in you "Do it Right" video, you say that Homer Kelly said that it is better to have a loop in your swing rather than not have one.

Could you tell me where he said this, as I am interested in reading up about it? Thanks.

...I'll have to look in to that. It's something that Tom Bartlett always quoted...so many times I thought I could find it in the book. I'll ask Tom today.

Homer did say the REVERSE LOOP could be VERY effective.

Reverse loop of the CLUBHEAD.

I feel as though the clubhead makes a slight downward movement as I float load (a little) when I strike ball well.

Ala Sergio, Gossett, etc.

Many players have this subtle move. The hands basically travel in the same area they did going back (DTL view). So, it is not just a "vertical drop" of the hands.

I could only find the reference you made Brian, "Handled with skill, this Shift can be very effective".

The Reverse Loop is similar to the Reverse Shift (is the exact reverse of the Single Shift [relates only to the shift from the Elbow Angle to the Turned Shoulder Angle during the Backstroke, with a Downstroke on the Turned Shoulder Plane Angle]. That is the Shift from a Turned Shoulder Plane Angle Backstroke to an Elbow Plane Angle Downstroke.) except that the Shift is made from the Squared Shoulder Plane Angle but also is done with a looping motion of the clubhead.

That probably doesn't clear much up but it is the TGM definition.

Translate it into layman's speak, please.

Sorry my bad...(I know better[V])

Reverse Loop during the backstroke the club is take back on the plane defined shoulders, then shift is to return the right elbow straight down and back on the shaft plane at address. When doing this shift the Clubhead will having a looking motion.

Hope that is a better explaination.

This "inside loop" is an essential movement to resist the body's natural tendency to push the club out and forward(producing an outside loop) with the right hand, arm and shoulder. You will come over the top.

If you want to be a good ball striker, this movement must be learnt.
