Low-Maintenance Swing

Does anyone here have or know of anyone who has a low maintenance swing? I'm referring to people who only play a few times a year, don't go to the range, and then go to the course and shoot in the 70's, or low 80's at most. My father and brother are like this. Neither has been playing 10 years yet, but both can shoot par if they play on a regular basis. As a matter of fact, my brother just shot a 73, with several 3-putts, including a 1-under front 9. He's only played a few rounds in the past couple of months, and he dosen't go to the range.

I despise them both.

They're pretty different. My dad is 6'3", maybe average length, and hits a fade. My brother is only just barely 6', hits a draw, and is as long as they come, with no wristcock. The only similarities between the two swings that I notice are a)low hands in the backswing, and b)strong grips (2 1/2, maybe 3 knuckles). Is there anything inherent in these two qualities that lend themselves to swings that require such low levels of maintenance?

Any swing with any number of compensations can become repeatable and will allow you to score.

This can be seen from high handicaps through tour pros. Find something you're comfortable with that is repeatable even if it is something you may not want to do.

Guys like you describe BigWill, are very good at one thing....staying out of their own way. They dance with the one they brought and their whole focus is just putting it in the hole.

Reminds me of a guy a played with one time and I asked him how he played so well (he had an average swing and stroke) and his response was...."the sign said 4, so I get it done in 4" like he was taking instructions from the hole sign or something

People like that piss me off too.

Ha! My dad and bro are like that. You'd never find them on a golf forum, and they barely read mags or anything like that. They just played and improved, rapidly. Half of the time, by their own admission, they don't know what they're doing. They just hit the ball; fairways and greens.
