As of August 31st 2007, I will no longer be a Professional Instructor.

I have made the decision that I would like to regain my amatuer status, carry a real handicap, and compete in sanctioned amatuer events and see how good I really am.

My game has improved rapidly over a 3 year period and I have had really had some "eye opening" rounds since changing a few things since last fall. I feel that I have what it takes to compete against some of the top talent in the country if I find the time to practice enough. So I am taking the time to found out if what I feel is really true or just wishful thinking :).

-------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you I have given lessons too, I'd like to thank each and every one of you to entrusting your game to me to improve. I feel that I have done a great job with all of you and I have learned something each lesson I have given and truly feel that I have become a better teacher over the last year.

I will still be giving lessons and teaching, however only until the end of this month. So if you have been on the fence on whether or not to take lessons from "the best deal in golf" as some of my students have told me, you better hurry up and book time because it's gonna go pretty fast.

-------------------------------------------------------------

As for my involvement with the Brian Manzella Golf Academy, it will be strictly on a "member only" basis. I will still be around to contribute and help out all current and future members but more than likely as the weather gets nicer on a lesser basis because I should be out practicing and playing and not spending too much time here. :)

Please wish me luck and hope that I my time both teaching and being a professional contributor on this forum has been helpful to all of you.

Thank you
Jim Kobylinski

Good luck Jim on all your endeavors and it is sad that you are leaving the realm of teaching but much respect to you. I was your student for this short time but i have to admit, I turned into one hell of a ballstriker (which i can say w/ confidence now). Take care my man and have fun entering my world of bleeding calluses and chasing dreams.

Good luck, always read your posts with interest, from the start when you where asking the questions, and now when you are answering them.

Good luck Jim, and thank you for your contributions to all of us. You have been very generous and we appreciate it.
It's great that you are reaching for the stars. At the very least, you will never have to ask yourself 30 years from now, "What if I had given this a shot?"

Go for it Jim, good luck. Does this mean Brian won't be coming to Chicago anymore? Hopefully you could still advise and not lose your amateur status at such an event.

Good luck Jim. Does this mean quitting your day job? If you can find the time, you should try to keep us posted with what you are doing, how you are doing it. I for one would be interested to hear how you are going about playing for a living.

no, i will still be working my day job and only competing in Amatuer events. I figure that if i can't even compete with top amatuers, i have no business even trying to compete with smaller mini tours.

However, if i do well in a lot of local amatuer events and get into any USGA events and play well in those, i might look into playing for a living but again that is all theoretical and i can only take things 1 step at a time.

Good luck, but who going to fill your shoes when you go? You were the most informing and helpfull teacher here other than Mr M. Thanks for helping You will surly be missed....joeparrr
