Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge
Host of the 2003 and 2005 PGA TOUR Q-School Finals

Come join us in sunny Orlando, Florida for two great days of World-Class Golf Instruction and “four and a half star” golf. The Brian Manzella Golf Academy, featuring Brian Manzella, PGA, G.S.E.D. and Tom Bartlett, G.S.E.B., will provide peerless instruction on one of the world’s finest practice facilities each day, followed by golf on one of Florida’s best resort courses.

Both days will begin at 8:30 a.m. with four hours of instruction headed by Brian Manzella, the world’s foremost hands-on instructor, known for his ability to bring difficult golf instruction techniques to life. Brian’s command of the entire game of golf has produced such champions as PGA Tour star David Toms.

One of Manzella’s star pupils is Authorized Golfing Machine Instructor Tom Bartlett. Tom’s unique understanding of The Golfing Machine has been developed through his nearly 20 years of working with both Brian Manzella and Ben Doyle, as well as his 15 year career as a playing professional. Tom possesses one of the world’s most dynamic golf swings.

Orange County National’s practice facility includes a range spanning 42 acres, a 360-degree hitting area, 600 total tee spaces and dozens of target greens. In the eight hours of instruction, every area of the game will be covered from tee to green, utilizing high-speed video and both group and one-on-one sessions.

18-holes of top quality golf will proceed lunch each day, accompanied by both instructors.

We play golf for a score.

We a'int going out there to fart around ;)

I have always believed that the student can learn MORE if the pro plays a real round.

Sure, we'll offer pointers and strategy suggestions, but we really like golf, and—to be honest—like playing for a score.

Brian, when you do playing lessons and the student wants you to play also do you find that the educated golfer watches every move you make and asks you plenty of questions because they want to learn how and why you played certain patterns and strokes. Do you also find the ignorant ADD hacker has little if any appreciation for your play/stratergy etc. and you could really flush it that day, but they bring up the three putt or unforced error you made after the round during clubhouse drinks?

Any comments on 'The Manzella Stance' on the art and science of delivering an effective playing lesson?

Are most playing lessons just expensive dog and pony shows?

4 Barrels,
Clearly I'm not Brian but I feel I've got a little insight here. The playing lesson is a strange animal, many time what I go out ther thinking they will learn and what they take as the jist of the matter are two different things. With novice and expert players alike, my students have notice tons and tons of nuances, whether they are technical, etiquette, strategic, shotmaking, or mental. This is an untapped resource. I have developed a policy of "thinking out loud" as I play, verbalizing everything that I'm doing. The student is amazed at the thinking processes. With regards to errors in performance, it happens to everybody, and it can be embarassing if they focus on it but is an opportunity to talk about the philosophy of golf and the ups and downs we all face. After all even Ernest Hemmingway occasionally misspelled a word when typing a novel.
Hope you got my emails from the office, if not email me at home dougydu@msn.com
Regards, Doug

Were I to take a playing lesson from an AI, I'd want his attention on me 100%. For example, if I didn't execute a shot correctly, I'd want him to drop a ball and show me using my pattern, not his, and with plenty of commentary. I wouldn't want to get into a "competition" with him.
