Talented Manzella Instructor and PGA Golf Professional Chris Hamburger was named the new Head Golf Professional at Top 100 golf course Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

Chris played golf at Jesuit High School in New Orleans and The University of New Orleans. He worked as an assistant professional at Chateau Golf and Country Club in Kenner, Louisiana, and Audubon Park Golf Course in New Orleans before being hired as an assistant at Valhalla in 1997. Hamburger has been the Head Golf Professional at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky since 2001.

A Manzella student since 1992, he has been a Brian Manzella Academy Instructor since 1996.

Valhalla Golf Club was designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course was built on 486-acre property owned by original course owners and developers Dwight Gahm and his three sons Walt, Gordy, and Phil, and opened in 1986. Brian Manzella and Chris Hamburger student Lindsay Gahm, currently a standout golfer for LSU, is Dwight Gahm's granddaughter.

Valhalla hosted the 1996 PGA Championship won by Mark Brooks, and the 2000 PGA won by Tiger Woods. At the end of the 2000 event, the PGA of America exercised an option to purchase the remaining interest in the club. The club hosted the 2008 Ryder Cup won by the team USA.

Valhalla also hosted the 2002 and 2011 PGA Professional Championship and and the 2004 Senior PGA Championship.

The 2014 PGA Championship will also be played at Valhalla.

Hamburger's hiring in 1997 as a "seasonal" assistant at Valhalla was spearheaded by Senior Manzella Instructor Michael Finney, who was the club's 1st Assistant at the time. Finney has been the Head Professional at Owl Creek Country Club in Louisville since 1999.

Manzella's Louisville resume includes being the Director of Instruction at Tom's Golf Center in 1993, Golf World Golf Center from 1997-2000, and Different Strokes Golf Center from 2000-2008.

Chris Hamburger, Michael Finney, and Brian Manzella are all natives of New Orleans.
