"Mashing it"

I'm guessing a slang term describing hitting the ball on the club face sweet spot, which feels like the ball is being "mashed". I would also guess describing the ball being hit really far with the respective club.

mashed potatoes

My guess is that it means compressing the ball-- solid impact alignment. Not a sensation I am very familiar with though.

mashing it

1. Slang Term for "compressing" the golf ball very well. Usually reserved for severely de-lofting an iron with an overly downward angle of attack.

Can't help smiling. When I moved from Portland, Oregon to Lumberton, NC in the late 70's I was confronted with some strange language. Examples:

1. "Mash the Button" means press the button.

2. "Carry me to the Store" means drive me to the store.

3. "Sick in the Bed" means at home sick.

and of course, "I seen that" and "I done that"
