I'm too young to have seen Trevino so maybe I'm stepping outta bounds here. The way I hear about him. The swings I've seen. The grit. The get it done-ness. This guy seems to have what they said Trevino did. Furthermore, his swing looks like a tribute to what Trackman knowledge can do for your game. I've posted a video where he was hitting irons with Trackman keepin "an eye out". His swings left? Awesome. What I'm wondering is, could he consistently "zero it out". I'm sure he can, he probably just likes "playing for a miss" and found a way to play that works for him.

That's my long ass way of saying...congrats...you're an impressive (to borrow a phrase) bloke.

Here's the video

Seems like he has figure out how to swing left with the irons and straight or right with the woods.
The way the Europeans are playing and TM is a Euro product could they be ahead of the US in golf instruction??

I have to admit, although it would have been interesting to see Tiger regain his winning form, I was pulling for G Mac the whole time. He seems like a good guy, and has a winning instinct.

On another note, it can't really be said that Tiger's swing let him down. The putter again failed him. I thought he struck the ball well, and his numbers seem to bear that out.

With notable exceptions I think you are correct about the advances in European golf instruction. it seems as though "garden variety" teaching pros understand d-plane etc. Perhaps not having to defend a "guru status" has advantages, you can follow the crumbs of reliable evidence. It has to be tough for a brand name teacher to eat off-brand humble pie. Admitting you are wrong about something as crucial as ball flight is not make for a compelling marketing campaign...or does it?

Wow...

I can't believe he made two in a row. I had a funny thought, like "he just make make this...," but the second put from outside Tiger?? Wow.

Poor little Tiger....boo whooooo

has the personality and attitude of a champion.

And GMac didn't spit wooggies all over the green after missing any putts. Tiger still doesn't get it. He seem like he is back to his old selfish, disrespectfull ways. His name should be Tantrum Woods. Just a big ol baby that the polished politically correct stuff he does when interviewed is starting to get old. Seems he just wants to always play the victim.

I agree. Seems to me that Tiger is just not a nice guy at all. (never met him, know nothing about him really, so my comment is just based on the way he comes across in the press and the way the press portray him.)

If you listen to the video of GMac he seems to be working with T-man for the first time. So looks kike he figured out himself how to zero-out. Hadn't been takin the Kool aid, so was not misguided before he even got started;)

please explain the Kool Aid .. It was nice to see GMac beat tiger !

Interesting. Then the commentary was just for show, ie to explain what was being measured to the audience.
PS How do you know?

Gi: How much do you rely on launch monitors when testing equipment? Are you a techie who looks regularly at his ballspeed, spin rate and launch angle?
GMac: I do jump on the TrackMan from time to time to make sure that I'm flighting it optimally. My launch angle has always been quite low but I've managed to change that over the years – it's now about 11-12 degrees with my driver. And TrackMan has helped me to monitor that, as well as my spin rate, to get the optimal distance.

Interview after US Open win.

as much as i strongly believe in the use of tech (such as trackman), the 3 memorable moments for me about G-mac is (i did not watch all 4 days or even the entire 4th day)

1. 4th day: 17th hole. major screw up: ball in tall grass (how can you guys explain that he ever used trackman?! :). he took his time, focused but not rushed,,,decided on the spot to drop. proceeded with one of the simplest swings possible. just like that, landed the ball just right. and then,,,putted it in.

2. long putt on the 18th.

3. yet another long putt on the 18th.

each is a gem. somehow, i rate the 17th bogey as the best played. he fought off that sinking feeling.

Good job G McD!

Glad someone made a thread about this...if no one had, after all this time, I was gonna post an obnoxious, celebratory one.

New Topic: "Yaaa McDowellll!! Weooooooo Good Job Buddy!!"

Maybe it was for the best that someone else did it...(in better taste!)...

Nobody in the world I would rather have standing over a must make putt than McDowell right now. The shear number of clutch putts he made this year (US Open, Ryder Cup, Chevron) was well Tiger-esque.
