Rory seems to me to have as high and "around" a right shoulder as any long-hitting, high level player out there. What are the common swing characteristics, benefits, and things to be careful of with this kind of pivot move?

@Bigwill

I have noticed this too - due to the right knee extension right before impact I believe this puts his lower spine at more risk of chronic type injuries. Imagine a discus thrower keeping his right knee straight through the throw.

It might also increase the risk of smother hooking (e.g. Augusta 10th tee), especially under pressure. It also appears in this video that his AoA is negative, at least on this swing.

This is an incredible video and obviously Rory has the talent to make any number of different swings work well.

But if you listen to the fringe........

Basically Rory uses the right shoulder/arm to stay on top of it and prevent the right-side miss. This is something I've implemented into my own swing with success.
