I look forward to the TGM camp in Atlanta next week. I thought I'd give everyone a "before" picture so an "after" picture may have more meaning.
I swung the golf club "wrongly" since I was 16 years old and never really understood the "right" way until about 2 years ago - I am a "young 52" years old :>)
I have been incorporating TGM principles over the last 2years and my game has improved dramatically. Prior to TGM I could normally not break 100 (unless I used a few mulligans and fluffed every lie) Now I routinely shoot in the mid to upper 80s without any mulligans, playing the ball down, and counting every stroke. I routinely chip in and hit many "great" shots per round. I suffer from the "blowup" syndrome otherwise I'd be close to an single digit handicapper - I'm currently around a 15.
What I need work on and hope to understand more about while in Atlanta in the following order is:
Rythm - swing components in sync. I have always been a "grip it and rip it" golfer - If I had a problem, my solution was "swing harder" I still have problems keeping my hips from running away from me. I'm working hard at getting the pivot and arms working together.
Understanding where my plane is. I never really know if I'm on or off plane.
Feeling the swing - I have definite case of downstroke blackout. I have a hard time feeling club head and controlling clubface. My mind is definitely not in my hands.
I do not take the "right" type of divots although I do take divots on every swing so I know I am hittig dwon on my shots.
If I can just improve in these areas the trip will be a success. You guys have your work cut out for you - you'll earn your money :>)
