Mental hurdles

What are(is) the biggest hurdle(s) you struggle with overcoming?

I struggle with rythm - The longer the club the faster I swing. I'm thinking of taking my practice swing with my wedge prior to hitting my longer irons. I'm always htting smothering hooks with long irons but with 7-SW I am dead on; smooth and accurate.

Ya tempo and rhythm can be tough.

And the worse you're swinging, the harder it is to get it right (but the more you need to do it).

...

Deciciveness can be tough at times...managing all those thoughts and anxitey and such.

Especially if you've got lots of swing (or other) changes on your mind at the time. I mean when you get over a putt or something and the anxiety hits and you don't know what you're doing all of a sudden.

I guess a lot of people would call it "paralysis by analysis" or w/e....I don't like that tho....it's partly true, but only in certain times.

IMO really it just means that there's some anxiety there and it's amplifying the fact that you really DON'T know what you're doing, or it isn't grooved in enough or w/e. You need to prepare more....and also learn to deal with the anxiety.

It's tough regardless though.

Since you are an experienced veteran you would be familiar with the Aiming Point Concept and changing the stance to adapt to the length of the club. It should help you with your Rhythm.
Other than that, make friends with your long sticks and start practicing on the course more.

Since Canton 100 yards an in. I have taken on board what I was told to fix and work on on my full swing and it is much better and is on the right path. My short game is very poor compared to my full swing . I am as accurate with a wedge from 50 to 100 yards as I am with a 7 iron from 160. I have very poor distance control with chips and pitches and don't have the same level of confidence as when executing a full swing.

Although I fully understand the aiming point concept I find that it is one of the hardest concepts to incoporate into my coconut. I guess i am not yet able to keep my eye on the ball and keep my mind on the aiming point. I believe they are still both on the ball.

Anyone else have issues with aiming point. I seems like eduacting the hands is a lllllooooonnnnngggggg process - soemthing that will take years and not months.

If you're a Swinger, try coiling up tight, hanging on, and unwinding hard, with a flat left wrist. Let the physics propel the flat left wrist. Aiming point is best left to Hitting, to which it is a direct complement to the active drive of the right tricep.

Are you sure...? I can see what you're getting at with the deliberate, direct drive down/out to low point in Hitting...

But I dunno........all you have to do to get a forward aiming point is have more hip slide or something, no?

I can do Brian's divot drill Swinging.......

What about Hogan even?
