Phil Mickelson is a snivelling sunkist-smiling douchebag. VJ Singh didn't like him from the moment he saw his gerbil smile and who can blame him.
Now Nick Faldo's technique was a bit retarded. He was a control player not a power player. If your hitting as short as Faldo, that lack of aggression better be converted into consistancy to score like he did in his prime. Faldo was a little bit ahead of his time because with the new clubs that are out, means that you do not have to 'whack' the ball anymore inorder to get acceptable yardages and the human is really only capable of keeping a positive equity accuracy from 280 to 300 yards.
I have an old small faced driver that I can hit the same distances as the professionals on tv. However because of their superior equipment, they don't have to do anywhere as much work in order to hit the ball about 280 yards and is alot more accurate as a result. I almost feel ready for new clubs...lol
Now some of the courses have been made so long at Professional event that a power player still has a place. The way that John Daly played when he was at his peak means he will always have a very erratic round because of this fact. Whack it up to the green and short iron it in produces alot of birdies and eagles, however also a lot of dropped shots with recovery shots. If you get lucky, you can win. Hitting it softly twice basically produces more pars so if you have a lead in a tournament, it is ideal to play this way in order to make the other players have to do work to catch up and someone like Tiger Woods does that alot on the final day instead of doing what he did in 97 where he just kept going on with the aggressive game and was successful for all the four days is capable of playing both ways as he probably lost 2 majors this way and he learned to play it more like Jack Nicklaus.
