Bae hit one right off the tee and Miller commented that pulling more than releasing causes a slice.

C'mon guys, if you didn't know that already, you need to have a quiet word with yourself in private.

Surely everybody knows that.

Sure but people are always banging on TV analysts for getting things wrong. The golfing masses, which he is speaking to, generally DO NOT know this or other, seemingly simple things.

I know I bagged on one of the Miller videos someone let me borrow. Then with some urging from guys here I watched it again. While I still did not find everything to be true as I understood it a bunch of it made a lot more sense the second time through.

I watched the replay last night and when I heard the spot mentioned in the original post it actually made me smile. Maybe there is some hope after all and I can stop watching with the sound off.

In fairness, after Rory hit a great pitch from beside one of the greens, Johnny mentioned that he didn't like the way Rory's left wrist began to cup immediately after impact. Said it increased the loft of the shot and that he should try to emulate Mickelson's flat left wrist post impact.

Oh well. Like Billy Bob Thornton said, "They can't all be winners, kid."

That strikes me as more of a preference for those kinda shots though. If it produces the correct/consistent result, is there a bad way to pitch? I like the cuppy lofty pitch myself, but I sure wouldn't look sideways at any technique PM chooses to use.

Not to disagree with you, MG, but here is what I wrote.

I'm fairly certain, once the ball is gone, the left wrist isn't going to add or subtract loft on the club. Phil has maybe the best short game in the history of the game, but I don't see very many guys on Tour using his technique. Most players with chipping yips have a beautifully flat left wrist post impact.

Faldo said the exact opposite during one of the telecasts this weekend. I can't remember who it was in reference to, but basically saying he likes the cupped wrist for little pitches and he thought it would help the player.

Nope, I'm with you. Just making a general comment about which style is thought of as best. I took this Zapruder style video at the PGA. To my eye, PM (and I'm sure RM) can and does have all the shots with all the styles from all the lies. Genius is as genius does.

I'll also echo everything in your second paragraph. Then again, I'm also the guy who started a thread about his trouble with 1/2 wedges, so please don't take our agreement as a poor reflection on you.:)
