Mix Pattern Weird?

Weird, Closed shoulders/Pivot - inside out, swinging to the right and actually swinging way left.
Setup - hands plane, top - turning shoulder plane, back to hands plane at impact...

He's trying to throw the clubhead past his hands so much he has to brake his pivot to do it and the club passes to the left.

Your analysis is so far off base that it scares me.

Tell me you're not a golf instructor.

really?! not even close?!

That's a little harsh but if you'll try to be more specific about what do you think is going on with this swing I'll really appreciate it.

His backswing rehearsal is dog shit and I hope it wasn't prescribed by Hot Chilli.

However, his actual backswing is satisfactory.

I'll have to give you credit, I like your honesty.
Dog shit? that actually made me laugh...
I thought quite the opposite, his backswing rehearsal will put him in a better position to have more open hips/shoulder at impact. with his actual backswing his left hand is too high and plus his standing to close to the ball and if he start his downswing he really will have to use his hands alot insted of his body to get even close to hit the ball.
Look close that's what he's doing his pivot action is minimal his shoulder are maybe 5-10* closed at impact, hips 10-15* open, yet his hands path through impact is way left, look at the clubhead before impact from sky angle view, path a bit from outside(open Clubface compensation).
That's why I posted this swing, it's interesting, forget about plane lines and stuff(parallex anyway) let's just figure out how a 4 handicapper has a swing that goes opposite ways, body to the right, hands to the left?

I think that his over rotation on his backswing, opening the face is a good start(like Brian said).

Driver DTL - better Pivot

I'm curious, What do you about Jim Fuyrk swing? don't be shy...
I think effectively it's up there, top 5, very interesting and believe it or not, it is graceful...yep I really like it.

Brian, Nancy Lopez backswing... over rotaion with strong grip yet at the top just 45* open?

Since you asked me nicely

He sets up on the hands only plane, shifts up to the squared shoulder plane at the top of the backswing and shifts down to the elbow plane at impact.

The backswing rehearsal you recommended promoted the following errors:
  • an overly inside takeaway
  • excessive opening of the clubface
  • a bent left wrist
  • a laid off backswing
  • yada yada yada

You are looking for answers in all the wrong places.

Watch what his right foot does half way into the down swing. It is more pronounced with the driver.

This unusual movement is affecting the alignment of his hips at impact.

His hand path through impact is not way left as you suggested; in fact it is very close to optimal.

Despite what our good friend Manzella may believe, his club face is not, I repeat not open at the top of his backswing.

Post up a face on view of his swing and tell me what his typical shot pattern is like.

In the mean time leave that guy’s backswing the hell alone.

By the way, whose idea was it for him to stack and tilt?

Thank you very much!

Yes ok he shifts to squared shoulder plane at the top (I got confused with turned shoulder plane) and shifts down to elbow or hands plane (really doesn't matter with 2d because parallex so you can't be 100% sure).

Like Brian mentiond his left hand over rotation is a killer, way too open face and laid off, need the SD backswing, overly inside takeway no problem.

Watch what his right foot does half way into the down swing. It is more pronounced with the driver.

Yep that might be a root problem for his closed pivot at impact, it's like he almost slips with his right foot instaed of pushing with his right toe to open the hips and clearing the left hip(the hips are conntect right? so if you got one side ok the other will follow either pull the left hip or push the right doesn't matter as long as the hips clears).

Although, although Camillo has the same slip here and he still clears his hips and has a great pivot, well he works out an hour or 2 at the gym (what is G-Y-M ... THE Simpsons)

Watch it again, Camillo slips after his ball is gone...not the same

His hand path through impact is not way left as you suggested; in fact it is very close to optimal.

Ok but look at his clubhead from sky view angle, the clubhead path is from the outside, maybe he standing too close to the ball.

Despite what our good friend Manzella may believe, his club face is not, I repeat not open at the top of his backswing.

Sorry Brian went over this 1000 times, 90-110* open at the top, 45* open waist high on the downswing not that much different from the average pro, problem is he tries to square up the face with his hands way too much, throwing the clubhead at the ball and remember minimal pivot(that was my 1st diagnosis).

Post up a face on view of his swing and tell me what his typical shot pattern is like.

Pulls on bad shots, he must be coming 4-8* outside clubhead path and square clubface to that outside path which is maybe 2-6* closed to target lin, I'm not 100% sure, Brian we still waiting for your video: The D Plane "The Truth - no more mystery".

Ha ha you funny, you funny...very very funny you,
Listen man, I agree with you, but you have to agree with me that his way too high left arm could move 3-5 inches lower, just a bit, maybe he will bump and turn to left better without worry about his hands too much, maybe his plane angle, I don't know, maybe it doesn't matter...I mean Sabbatini, David Toms, Sean O'hair, Furyk, They all got high left arm, but the pivot, their pivot that's the difference.

By the way, whose idea was it for him to stack and tilt?

His, he left it alone after it got goofy a few days later...and he couldn't answer my question why...

He's trying to throw the clubhead past his hands so much he has to brake his pivot to do it and the club passes to the left.

He's trying to square up the face?
Brake the pivot? kinda like Use your Pivot to snap your Kinetic Chain...I wonder...

The big question remains why a 2-4 handicapper can swing that much left, with those closed shoulders and square hips at impact specially with irons, I never saw a swing that had such a weird motion thorugh impact?

Brian, Brian... Brian, what do you think about Nancy Lopez backswing?(hope I'm not nuisance).

His swing looks pretty good from face on..........are we sure he has a super open clubface?? He is doing pretty well with it if he does no?

Can this guy turn it over? Can he take a leading edge divot?

I thought this was you all along BTW Hendrix. (CHILLI)

conventional clubface...

It's open at top(90-110*), half way down he definitely squares it, only 45* open, so not bad, at impact he has a little flip, small really no problem, I wish Brian will make a list: 5 ways to square the clubface at impact for a very open clubfaces before impact...I have only 2 ways, Roll Left wrist, small flip...I know twistaway...but I don't use it, I tend to have my clubface only 45* open at the top.

Can this guy turn it over? Can he take a leading edge divot?
He sure can.
Look at the first videos from ballview face on from the mat...good downward impact with the iron.

I thought this was you all along BTW Hendrix. (CHILLI)

That's me
