Greetings ...

Colin Montgomerie is no doubt pleased to be on the European Tour's 2004 Ryder Cup Team. And surely he'd love helping Europe retain the Cup at next month's matches.

However, Monty's selection to the Ryder Cup also gives him a golden opportunity to compete full-time on the U.S. PGA Tour.

Last year, the PGA Tour amended its exemption rules regarding European and International players on the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup teams. Any such European or International player - on the condition that they play the minimum requirement of 15 officially recognized PGA Tour events, which would include the Grand Slam majors, the Players and World Golf Championships - is now eligible to join the PGA Tour as a fully exempt member.

Monty, now 41 years old and no longer a dominant force in the game, surely knows that an opportunity like this will never come again. It will be most interesting to see if he will commit to the PGA Tour in 2005.

Thanx-A-Lot, Frank-0-Sport
