Haven't posted in a while b/c I've been sucking. Took a lesson that incorporated NHA and really liked the instructor and the ball flight and results, but was not happy with distance with the driver and long irons on a wet long course with a lot of wind (which I just played 4 rounds on).
Anyways, I decided to stop thinking so much about my mechanic's, but more so on the desired impact position. In the past, when I added more LEAN, I added STEEPNESS. Also adding more lean anatomically made me shut the face down.
So I focused on maximizing lean but without adding steepness and clubface closure. I tried to see how much lean I could get whilst scraping the turf with a really shallow divot. I initially found that the ball was going more left with hot draw spin. So I thought that if I was decreasing AoA, I should have permission to swing more right. (which I like to do) Then I started hitting push hooks. So I thought about switching from a strong left grip to a neutral grip. However, in the past, I had always had trouble squaring the clubface up with a neutral grip. But I found that the more I tried to maintain lean, the easier it was for me to naturally square the clubface with a neutral grip.
The last two range sessions have made my personal Top 10 list with the following in mind:
Neutral grip, maximum lean, but shallow out AoA to near zero, swing right.
Any of this make sense?
