For the past week or so I've logged in 4-5 rounds trying to experiment between swinging and hitting procedures with my driver.
As best as I can tell
Distance-wise:
About the same with the driver. I'd say when I'm swinging, I can get the same distance as when I'm hitting with less effort but I felt I could just hit it much more aggressively.
Ball flight:
More consistent while swinging. Pretty straight ball flight with a tailing fade at the end. The ball flight also was tad higher. I hit a lot of pulls and hooks with the hitting procedure and b/c I was more aggressive, I also hit some big push slices as I got too fast at times. But the ballflight was straighter and lower for the most part.
Swing plane:
This was where I was a little confused. I felt as though the swing planes were a little different. Swinging procedure require me to plane shift in order to keep my left side dominant.
While hitting, I could just let my right side go w/o shifting planes. For instance, at the top of my swing, during a swing, I had to bring the club straight down close to my body in order take advantage of centrifugal force whereas during a hitting procedure, I could take a much flatter swing plane to the ball.
Anyone experiment between the two? Preference?
