Or maybe cause its classical teaching. Take someone who is clueless (Doesn't know they don't know) Show them the error of their ways (they know they don't know) and train them how to do it right ( they know they know). The 4th step comes much later, unconscious knowledge (they don't know they know) it becomes automatic.
