My rusty swing 2.0

I would have used the old thread but that kind of went off in another direction. I put another swing on video and I am hitting the ball well, good contact, high slight draw but I don't like my left arm just after impact, it has a little buckle in it. It is not a full fledge chicken wing but not the straight left arm post impact I like. My question is what is causing it? I leave for Fl in a couple of days and I am leaving the wife to home and taking our 3 year old son so I am going to have lots of range time. I would like something tangible to work on so I can hit the ground running when golf season kicks in here in Mi. Thanks.

I put my video up on my v1 and looked it over real close, I come into the ball pretty good but I think I am sliding my hip and bowing my left leg way too much. I think that is part of the problem, I also think that is why I tend to hit a low ball. I went out and worked on trying to not get to the outside of my left foot and feel like I am “posting up” on my left leg and started to hit some really nice shots. Can anyone confirm what I see? Here is another video of me today working on posting on the left leg.

Hey brotha,

Go back to the first post you sent out on your swing"My Rusty Swing" and read what Brian suggested...that is probably your answer. Couple that with Kevins advice on your transition and I bet the answer is in there...

Brian was giving me suggestions to change ball flight......I worked on what Kevin suggested, its in one of Brian's videos. I did find my transition, it was a faulty grip, loosing the last 3 fingers in the left hand and then regripping more with forefinger/thumb.

Just trying to tighten up the swing some more, my leg/hip action has been sloppy. I am going to go to the range every morning next week and want something to work on. :D

Fair enough....Id say work on the short game, save up some money and go see Brian for a couple of days. Have fun in Florida man...I wish I could go.

Matt,

You have a little BLIP in your motion just after impact.

You have to do one of these two:

1. Get your left shoulder further from the ball so your left arm can stay long, longer.

or

2. Rotate your left arm more, keeping your left elbow turning toward your rib cage.

Thanks Brian, I have been struggling with that "blip" for a couple of years, I just couldn't figure out how to solve it. I am going to work this week on rotating the left arm more. I assume your talking left shoulder more back (as toward my heels and not up) because I think I am already getting a lot of shoulder tilt, maybe a little too much, right?

Thanks again Brian that is exactly what I was looking for, a way to get rid of that dreaded "blip" after impact. I will post a follow up after I get back from Florida to see if it is gone. To tell you the truth I should post up an old swing of mine before I found your website and you would be amazed at the difference. I used to have hands way forward and a really strong grip, it was Paul Azinger ugly.

When you find out when you’re coming to Ann Arbor post the times so I can figure a way to get it into my schedule.

I'm just saying, if I were you, id try to keep my left arm across my chest longer and go with both of Brian's suggestions in order.

Yup, I agree Kevin, I noticed that myself too when I put my swing on the v1, I noticed I lose that accumulator too early. Thanks for pointing it out, I will work on that too this week.

Matt,

If you are trying to keep your head perfectly level (East to West) then you do a remarkable job of it. Seems to me that really getting into the left side should drop the head a little. A go down and get it move. Also, I think really pronating your right forearm through impact will counteract your left arm blip. It appears that you are actually supinating your right forearm now.
