My swing, June 19th

Hi everyone,
I've been doing some tweaking to my swing for sometime now and to be honest, I think I've destroyed it.

My cap is going up steadily (despite my short game getting better) and I can't control any aspect of my long game.

My misses are poor (or at least inconsistent) contact, big pushes, push fades, and a general feeling of helplessness . Also, my contact is really really steep, and I've lost all of the spin on my full shots. For example, back when I was an 8 cap and could shoot in the 70's (high 70's, but 70's nontheless) I could actually spin the ball back with wedge shots.....now even my 58* runs outs....

At this point I have no idea what I'm doing anymore. I'm totally preoccupied with swing thoughts and no two swings feel the same. I feel like I'm at the point that I need to do something drastically different, but I have no idea whats going wrong.

Is it me, or does he have an overly rotated left arm going back?

Nice swing by the way - sure does look pretty! Nice lag - looks like you nailed that shot.

The other thing I notice is maybe too big of a move back to the target...

U got talent!

I see the push/push fades. You are getting ahead of the shot. Check out the starting location of your left shoulder joint at address vs impact. You move the hula hoop and thus bring in the right shots. Fell like your left should goes behind your head, not toward the target.

I would also work on having a little "check rein" in your backswing with a wee bit of extensor action. That's one long iron swing for a stout dude. Unless you are a big Yoga fan;)

Thanks guys,
Cmartin, I will try your feel idea for the left shoulder...I really like how that sounds (and I actually understand how to pull it off too:D). I will work with that feel for a bit and then put up some more footage. Hopefully that will help me from getting so far in front of the ball.

I'll also try to shorten the swing a bit. For the extensor action do you mean that I should just keep my arms a little straighter towards the top of the swing?

Yep, that's me. I still am trying S&T (although I'm not doing well). Let's just call this "my swing". Regardless of what style I'm using, having my centres move as far forward as they do is a big problem and thats what I'm trying to fix.

Perhaps you should "blow up" the pivot your currently fighting with (S&T) and try more of an NSA- or Soft Draw-type pivot. You could look up Brian's "Perfect Pivot" articles that are buried in the archives as well.
