My Swing Video

The squeamish should look away...

Impact position doesn't look too bad but I see some OTT and a whole lotta flippin going on. That amazes me because my arms and hands really feel passive. How would you fix all this? :(

Also based on what you see, what pattern would be best? I have COFF only so far.

As a follow up question, can one still flip with passive hands/wrists? Maybe it's a feel versus real thing but I believe I'm not applying any hand or wrist action at the bottom (or earlier). Just trying to let the club release on its own through pivot action. And yet the video doesn't lie. I be a flippin'.

Maybe slowing/stopping the pivot too early?

Assuming my hands/wrists really are passive (big assumption I guess), what other mechanisms are there causing a flip? I'm kind of at a loss of what to fix without adding a conscious delay action, and that can't be a good idea either.

Looks like I found my answer from a 2006 reply by Jim. Bought NSA today so hopefully I can get some of this ironed out.

incorrect...if your pivot isn't working correctly and basically stops and the arms come racing through at 80mph+ the left wrist will bend through the ball.

If you pivot correctly on PHYSICALLY TRY TO FLIP you won't! Because the force of your pivot is stronger than the muscles in your wrists.

And yet another from Brian which coincidentally describes my weak grip, left wrist double cock perfectly...

My bad for wasting y'alls time when the Search function has all the goods.

The Flying Wedges are an idea. Just like the Hinges. They really don't exist so-to-speak.

A concept. Like being nice to your fellow man.

Here is the straight truth:

The REASON that people "flip" is that they either hit the ball better flipping it, or they are trying to make the club make the ball go from point a to point b on a certain "line."

What do I mean by hitting it bettter by flipping?

Let's say you have a weak grip and you double-cock your left wrist on the backswing. If you made a downswing without a flip—and didn't know how to "square it up" the right way—you'd hit it far to the right.

But if you "Flipped it" sqaure-ish, the ball would fly straighter.

Before I give you a fix, what was your ball flight with a flip with a 6-iron and with a Driver?

Looking forward especially to seeing the "how to square it up the right way" part.

Pretty awesome what you can find here in a very short amount of time huh? Looks like you're on your way to better shots.
