My Swing. What I've learned so far.

For a beginner, you've got an excellent golf swing. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I've seen worse swings than yours shoot a lot better scores. Meaning, those 'worse swings' are able to shoot lower scores because they have a better short game and know the game better. So I would suggest to go out and play a little more. Plus, I'd probably find a good player, befriend him, and ask questions on how to play trouble shots or specific shots around the green.

The biggest thing I see is you flip thru impact. But you don't cast the club, you have a pretty decent pivot and your clubface looks square in the backswing...all pretty rare to see from a beginner.

You look like you're on the right track swing wise, but there's probably a lot to learn about how to play the game.

Just my .02.

VJ,

I would be interested to hear what a 100+ shooter dislikes about that swing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please explain.

Damn nice swing for a beginner!! The green line shows a little throwaway. One thing in confessions that Brian said which has helped a bunch of my friends is that when you look down at impact your hands should "appear" to be in front of your left foot. From your eyeballs they would appear to be on your shoe. I know it's silly for some to hear this but when first starting many people have no idea where the hands should actually be at impact.
It's hard for me to tell how far open your hips are but maybe if you get them further open at impact it would carry your hands further also??? Thats more of a question for the qualified but it makes sense to me?

I broke 100 the other day;), and my goals are not to break 100, I wanna really be able to play. I don't like my backswing. I think if I could stop "overswinging" I'd be in a better spot to get my arms/club and body working together better. I think I know what Kevin is going to have me do tomorrow. Probably, have me "carry" my arms with my PIVOT to the top better, not have my arms dominate the backswing so much. Kevin has told me before that I need to employ this move and I need to work it out and get a good feel. I think if I fix the backswing...the rest of the swing falls in place with some work and understanding. I'm really interested to see what Brian thinks. Give me a heads up for the month of May, Manzellian.

Thanks for drawing the lines buddy..I appreciate it very much. Thanks for the advice also..I agree 100%, about educating my hands better. I do think I have to give my hands a better chance on the backswing though, but that's another story, again...Thanks alot.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I had a session with Kevin today and the light bulb was lit in my head. I now know how to fix it and what to do..thanks Kevin, you're the man. By the way, after the lesson I went upstairs and hit some more balls. The advice and aid you let me borrow I can already see will fix things. I started striping it within a few swings..Thanks again man. I will keep working hard and will post another swing in a couple of weeks with the fixes.
