Hitting it like crap the past couple days, but I still decided to get on TM anyway. Still struggling with too inside-out. Anyway, here were the number averages:

CHS: 103.8 mph
AoA: + 5.6 (!!!)
CP: 3.5
HSP: 2.6
Face: 4.6
Ball Speed: 155.8
Launch: 15.2
Launch Dir: 3.2
Spin: 3540

All toe hits, all felt like crap. Spin axis was like -10 on average. Big hooks. Smash factor was 1.49-1.50 nearly every time though. Strange thing though, Dynamic Loft was 12.5 and he was letting me hit an 8.5 i20 driver to get the spin down. Got it down to under 2000 with the i20 (I have the G15 right now). By the looks of the numbers, I'm still too inside out yeah? I was pretty surprised how much up I hit on the driver though. Been feeling like I've been hitting down and outside-in when I hit it well. Not today, though!

Do the toe hits have any factor on these numbers? I know smash factor is going to read high, and face angle will read open and spin axis will be way left, but is there anything else?

Another side note: Had the SSR out. Reading 105-111 and TrackMan read 101-103. Possibly the toe hits influence that as well?

As far as the clubhead speed goes, just compare apples to apples.

The path at 3.5° inside-out with a driver is fine. i20 is a really good head.

The toe strikes might be "can't reach the sweetspot"....hips might not be far enough forward, bottom of shirt placket might be too far back.

You have a degree or two to play with as far as your AofA.

Keep this in mind also with regards to smash...

Interesting picture, Mike -- but I guess it is not universal for all drivers. I am pretty certain Mike Tait (SMT designer and owner) said that the sweetspot of his clubs giving the biggest rebound are located a bit higher than centre of the face -- similar to the point no.4 on your drawing.

Cheers

I could be wrong, but I think what MG's picture shows is the different speeds that different parts of the face (rather than resultant ball speeds) are travelling at for a "nominal" 100mph clubhead speed. The toe moves faster - so smash factor calculation could be slightly out if the speed of the part of the face that impacts the ball is different from the recorded clubhead speed value.

As far as I know, CoG and the point of the face from which you get maximum rebound don't need to exactly coincide.

D, have you had a chance to view the AS2 videos yet? There is some good discussion on this topic... what a "sweetspot" is and isn't, and what some possible advantages can be with not contacting the exact CoG on the face. Good stuff.

Yep. I forgot to note that that image is from the TM newsletter discussing SF.

Bottom of shirt placket?

I think I was overdoing swinging left and starting to just come over it or something, doing some crazy move mid swing just to make contact. Swings felt like complete ass and I managed to drop kick a few. Never come close to drop kicking when I'm hitting driver well. And yea, I liked the i20 head very much, as well as the 707 shaft. Brought the spin WAY down.

Nope. Too expensive :) If I were to guess, if I wanted to force a draw that just wasn't happening from center face contact it would behoove me to hit it off the toe a bit, vice versa with a fade/heel shot.

Reviving this just for a quick question...what is a good number to shoot for regarding Dynamic Loft with the driver? Assume everything else stays about the same, maybe a little less hitting up, more like 2 or 3 degrees up. Or is there even such a number? Should it be somewhere around the static loft plus the attack angle for a stock shot?
