Hey guys

I have been reading up a lot of info on TGM and built a pretty good swing. a nice draw to my target. Now i have been hitting my 6-pw all the same distance! ball flies up high. It seems to me as if im either swinging outside-in now or somehow i add so much loft to my clubs. Any help would really be appreciated!

You are, most likely, scooping the ball - passing the club underneath it in an attempt to get it airborne. This, effectively, treats all clubs the same as far as loft is concerned.

In practise, try to hit down into the ball with the objective of driving the leading edge of the club into the ground just on the target side of the ball. It will help you do this if you place a tee peg flush with the ground just to the target side of the ball, about one inch, and in line with its outside edge as you look down on it.

Sure, you will hit fat and thin shots until you get used to the idea - but the shots you get right will show you the differences that can be achieved in distance through the correct striking of the ball. Hitting down - not scooping up.

edit

Forgot to mention that, at impact, your hands - top of the clubshaft - should be nearer the target than the clubhead, i.e the clubshaft should be leaning forwards (and not backwards, as it probably does now).

Thanks. i think i may be swinging outside-in also. Thats what one of my buddies told me. Any drills to help acheive a more inside-out swing?

Aiming to hit the ball and take the tee peg mentioned earlier should do it.

However, a good visual is to lay a shaft about a foot behind the ball and pointing along the target line. Then lay another shaft at an angle of around 11* inside (your side) of the first one. The shafts should form a narrow V with the point of the V aiming just inside (your side) of the centre of the back of the ball.

Align yourself with the target line shaft and make your downswings so that you trace the line of the angled shaft and hit the ball just inside (your side) of the centre of the back of the ball.

This is a bit rough and ready but will give you an idea of what you should be working on.

Thanks drill with the tee you gave me helped out a little. You were right some fat shots and thin shots. The ones that i hit downward went further than when i tried to sweep at the ball. It still lacked the distance that i used to have but eventually it will come. Thanks a lot Burner. I appreciate your help.
