For some reason when I start my swing from the half way back position, I can hit the ball very well. From this position it feels as though I just turn my shoulders back and through and I finally feel the sensation of hitting the ball with the back of my left hand. The ball has a nice little draw to it and contact is excellent. I cannot replicate this feeling when I start from my normal address position. I have tried to figure out where the differences are, but I can't figure it out. My friends who watch my swing tell me I have a much shorter backswing when I start my swing from half way back, but it is hard for me to feel this. They say when I start from my standard address position, my shoulders stop in the same position, but my arms keep going back and I look a little off plane. Has anyone else experienced this. Any help would be appreciated. I guess I could always play golf from the half way back starting position!

Your "ARM SWING" might be shorter with the start-halfway-back swing.

But, I'd bet you have an earlier turn, and a deeper right shoulder at the top.
