neutral drivers

Honestly, probably only the Adams and Bridgeston drivers.

They play to the stated loft and have square to open face angles at address.

Many drivers that appear to have hook face alignments are neutral, because the "lead angle" MUST be built into the club, driver to wedge: it is greatest in the wedge. I.e., the hands arrive at the ball ahead of the clubhead.

I was told that my R7 TP is square and it appears so to my eye. I wouldn't be able to measure though.

I could be wrong but I heard all the TP versions in the Taylormade line are square.

Don't believe everything you hear.

I'm an equiptment junkie....the drivers that play to both stated loft and neutral COG are Adams and Bridgestone.

Every other club manufacturer has lofts that are +/- 3* from stated on the head and face angles almost as bad. It is very hard to to measure face angle and sometimes even though it "looks square" it can be even slightly closed depending on where the shaft sits in the head.

Have a clubmaker measure it

Jim,

I just ordered a TM 540 XD, 9.5 deg. (Price was low enough to buy it before trying it.) Do you happen to know enough about it to give me a quick review? (How much draw bias does it have?, etc.) I'm finally upgrading from my worn out TM 300 10.5 deg, and I'm wondering what I might expect from the new club.

Thanks.

Can someone please tell me what drivers are on the market that set up neutral in regards to club face and weighting?
thanks

I recommend assembling your own driver with Snake Eyes components from Golfsmith. They offer numerous clubheads that setup square.

I've been playing Snake Eyes woods for the past few years and, believe me, the quality and technology is every bit as good if not better than what you can buy off the rack, and you know what your are getting in terms of club specs because every detail about the clubhead is available.

Let me say again that because of the requisite lead angle, even a driver with a square setup angle will appear to be hook faced when soled with the club perpendicular to the target line. To be correctly soled, the hands MUST be a tiny bit ahead, so the face will THEN be square.

On some drivers, however many many drivers are purposely made with closed faces to combat the #1 problem in golf, the slice.

Yes, and good golfers are going to be fighting hooks or compensating by opening the clubface. You should look into the TP line of TaylorMade. You can get good deals on ebay for the older model XD TP line. They where never released to the public and where Tour issued only. I think Titleist makes a good woods as well.

check oput the ping g2 very square face might even be slightly open. It does play alot higher traj. then stated i usually hit an 9.5 but the g2 8.5 with the prolaunch is perfect for me and very hot. Also because they have been out for a couple years now you can pick them up for like 150
