Hello,

How often do companies like Titleist, Callaway, etc. come out with new irons? Also is there much improvement in them from year to year. I'm debating weather to buy new clubs now or wait untill next season. Any suggestions?

Technology has had a bigger effect on shafts, balls, and the heads of woods than irons. You can only do so much with the heads of irons so there really is not much improvement in them from year to year. For example many people think that the best Ping iron ever produced was the Ping Eye 2. Blades are blades and the Wilson FG17 is considered by many as good as any blade ever produced. So I would not get hung up on the idea that the next generation of irons is going to be an improvement. I have found that the biggest factor is getting the right shaft set up for you and that the same head plays totaly differently with different shafts in them. Brian recomends Swinsync in this area www.swingsync.com and getting the right shaft is more important than the club head. My advice would be to find a club you really like and get the right shaft for you fitted. www.bombsquadgolf.com is a website devoted to equipment and tour issue clubs. If you are interested in a forged CB have a look at the TM Firesole Forged which is very much like the TM X300 FCI and is the club Els used. It was forged by Miura which do the best forgings and like many of the best irons are made in Japan. Hope this helps.

Anyone hit the ping 59's?

So what would be considered the top five, tour quality, irons ever made? best currently being made?

mp33's, hogans's, eye 2's, and even my current, ta3's would be on my list, but then I haven't hit many of the older blades. Had some MacGregor "67's" for a while as a kid, definite muscle back, taught me a lot!

MP29 was better than 33....

59's feel GREAT!

Hogan's are MOST UNDERRATED.

PING EYE 2's probably best ever.

TA3's????????????

i think the mp11s were awesome eye 2's definately lots of tour players still play those i have a set of 1951 macregor bantams ben hogan model that are just as easy to hit as any new blade if yuour looking for a cheap good set try to find a clean set of dci black diamonds my buddy has them and they are easier to hit than my i3's

I hit the new blade-y looking PING club the other day. Quite nice. I liked it better than the I3 or I3+, or any Cleveland iron. Currently I play old Titleist Tour Model muscle backs. EYE2 remains best overall iron I've ever played, or am I just being nostalgic?

Any thoughts on the ISI irons from Ping? I had a set of the old Lynx Parallaxes that I adored but they got stolen. Now, I use a set of Tommy Armour EVO-31s.

The NEW NIKE Slingshot Irons look nice...

10 years in the making...

research seems factual...

Out in about a month

Can't wait to demo them
