New grip questions?

Today i was fooling around concentrating on not flipping when i accidentally realized that i reversed my overlapping grip,(left hand forefinger on top of right pinky as opposed to right hand pinky overlapping left hand forefinger). This seemed to virtually eliminate almost any chance of flipping, anybody have any thought on this?
Thanks,
Chuck

Steve Jones won an Open with that grip. Whatever works:cool:

Olympia Fields

...and Jim Furyk continues his success with a double overlap grip...

Lots of ways to get it done. About ten years ago, one of the top-ranked players in the NAIA division actually played cross-handed.

cross handed has merit for increasing power if you are significantly stronger in your normal grip's lower arm

I know an older guy (pushing 60) who plays crosshanded, and he can kill the ball. Not just kill the ball for an old guy. Kill it, period. Messes with my ego :)

Im 7rd8rv's son and we both used it on the course not long ago I found it did not help much, as did my dad and our finger hurt after a while but both of our chpping strokes were very good (I nearly holed 2 and left very few outside of 5 feet)
Thanks for the answers,
Mike

Josh Broadaway, a cross hander, came close to graduating onto the PGA Tour from the Nationwide. I bet he makes it next year.

I don't thing you can "lock" out the flip. You have to learn lag and understand lag. To do that, you better understand what the face is doing.

I understand exactly what your saying but I think there can be a position or a movement that will help prevent the flip but not always because preventing the flip doesn't always work. Like if in a swing I prevented my flip but I wedding ringed my hands too much I would pull hook it, right? So knowing that I would have to lessen the wedding ring which allows some flips to creep in...

i don't know if you believe me but I think you can actually hit a fade with wedding ring up if you really want to.
