This was Nick Faldo pre-lead and I just spent the last two hours cutting out and making the best of the footage I have to produce this for you all.

I hope this is of interest to you all and hope that you enjoy it !

-ps faldo was a long hitter when this picture was taken (unlike after lead)

not to bad seeing this reminds me of greg norman his swing was a little long and wild early on but he was awesome remember 86 got snipped my nickalaus at the masters led going into sunday at the us open won the british lost in playoff to tway at the pga. won ten tournaments that year and then at the next major the 87 masters got ripped by larry mize he was great his short game though got much better as time went on i think the same with faldo i dont think faldo tried to swing hard though after leadbetter i think it was just his philosiphy to put it in the fairway and give up some yards

Mathew,

Thanks for your work in getting this up. One obvious difference in the pre-Lead is swing is the "vertical" Finish. He is much more level with his arms and club in the post-Lead swing.

At the top, should the forearm be parallel to the spline angle? This was mentioned in Redgoat's site. My forearm is more vertical then the spline angle at the top, why's that?

Let's not forget Faldo developed an impressive resume WITH Leadbetter and became a Ryder Cup stalwart as well!!

One of the changes that Leadbetter made to Faldo's swing was to get him into setting his wrists early in the backstroke. Looking at the pic just before he gets to the top I would hazard a guess that Faldo was a random or snap loader. Do you think that changing to a sweep loading procedure contributed to his loss of length? Do you think this is an aspect of a swing that SHOULD be messed with ie changings one's "natural" loading pattern? Thanks
