One of the best things about my job—teaching golf—is the people you meet.

One of my students is Junior Bridgeman, a top executive in the chain restaurant business. In his younger days, he was one of the best players in the NBA for 12 seasons. He is one of the nicest guys ever.

I once asked him, "Who was the best player you ever played against?"

Without hesitation he said:

Bango Buck!

Good ole Junior Bridgeman...great ex-Milwaukee Bucks player. I remember seeing him when I was young...those were the days when the NBA players could really fill the nylon....with more than just a dunk! Great days in Milwaukee with Junior Bridgeman, Sidny Moncrief, Brian Winters, Marques Johnson, etc.....I used to like watching the NBA back then!

Still holds the NCAA season average and total points scored records. He did it before Freshmen were allowed to play and without the advantage of a shot clock or three point line.

Aw, Brian.........thanks........we tend to forget while wallowing in our self importence.

Nothing like watching poetry in motion, I am facing the day newly inspired!!!

Thanks a milliion!

My first and only real sports hero. We had season tickets and went to every game. I couldnt help but wonder how many of those moves I had seen in person.....who am I kidding, I had my face in a plate of DomeChos during those moves.
Good to see al those guys, Goodrich, Dr. O, Rich Kelly, Truck Robinson, hard to beleive that was 30 years ago.

Wow!!! What an awesome talent. It is always awe-inspiring to watch a great athlete do his/her thing....Nicklaus bouncing 2-iron off the stick on 17 at P.B. in 1972, the frozen image of Hogan's perfectly balanced finish after lacing 1-iron onto Merion's 18th green, M.J. draining another game winning jumper (just pick a year), Montana orchestrating another game-winning drive with a Super Bowl on the line, Tiger winning another major employing his A,B,C,D,E or whatever other game he needs to get the job done... you get the point. Whenever one endeavors to not just play the game, but understand it and become a student of it, nothing can been seen again in the same light. I watched that video in two different minds....one in awe of the flow, rhythm, and seamlessness of every movement and the other lightly analyzing Pistol Pete's release point and launch angles. I must say that he was amazing and that I enjoyed watching the video from both viewpoints. I also believe that everyone involved with this site can appreciate the same video for similar reasons. Pistol Pete was no more lucky in compiling those highlights and records than Nicklaus, Hogan, Jordan, Montana, and Tiger (not to mention a host of others in their respective fields of expertise) were/are within the parameters of their own conquests. Body awareness, control, feel, rhythm, release, tempo, angles, rotation, perseverence, tenacity, committment (just some of the attributes common to all athletes great and small). I believe that the insights and truths contained within this website can help golfers of all levels improve their control of these variables and become more like Maravich in their ability to understand and execute rather than leaving it up to chance.

Thank-you birdie_man...that is quite a compliment coming from one whom has posted 2,398 times...gotta be a record! I have enjoyed reading your posts as well and look forward to more in the future.
