Hi,
I used to be a slicer with my irons and the driver but nowadays I only slice my driver but I can shoot the dreaded shank from time to time (or quite a few in a row). I bought NSA2 as I thought I have a problem with an open clubface and my coach told me 'I lag the hosel and not the sweet spot' and he told me to look at some Brian Manzella videos.
It seems I was actively rotating my clubface through impact (if that makes any sense) so if the timing was off I was coming up with shanks but more often I was drawing to hooking by irons.
I've watched NSA2 now it it looks very good but I am a bit confused about the wrist action.
Brian says that for the twistaway you hinge your right hand around the vertical axis but where does that leave the left hand? I always thought you hinge the left hand around the horizontal axis and you create power with uncocking the left wrist like you are using a hammer. When the right hand hinges around the vertical axis I can't hinge the left hand around the horizontal axis as well or do I get something wrong here? Won't you lose power if you do that?
Another question I have is when to do the twistaway. Brian says right at the beginning of the takeaway. I haven't tried it yet but would the transition from the backswing to the downswing be a good time as this seems to create some lag.
I must say I love NSA2 and the tips. Especially the tip with having a gap on the grip between your index finger on the right hand and the middle finger and to 'feel' the sweet spot with the PP3 (been reading up on TGM a bit).
