Oh to be good again

My swing is all over the place. This was how my shots were this week when I shot 40-47.

Drives-Either a big hook or a block straight right into the woods. When this happens I think
I get stuck and eitehr block or flip the wrist to catch up. Now I don't know if this is what I am doing, but I am pretty sure it is. I have been working on taking hte club more up the wall, but I must be dropping it wrong.

long irons-some skulls or pulls. I felt like I was lunging at it for some reason.

mid-irons-pulls, but solid contact

short irons-my better shots. If I miss, it's a slight push to the right. ALways make solid
contact.

chipping-was great till my playing partner says I was doing well chipping as to when I usually yip skull. Then what to I do for the second 9? Well look at my score above and you can figure it out.

putts-average (never practice do to work, so can't really complain)

This has pretty much been my rounds the last few months. All over the place. I can look like a scratch golfer one hole then a 30 hcp'er the next. I am beginning to think most is mental and maybe if I get a labotomy I'll be ok. :)

Sounds like you need to work on your pivot - flat left wrist?
Watch the "Flipper" video over and over or the Ben Dolye series on Lynn's site.

yep, old habits are hard to break. It seems a lot easier with the shorter irons. I am 2 clubs further with my irons now, but I am fighting a lunge at the ball to hit down on it more. Sometimes causing a thin shot.

If there is one thing in golf and life you must get used to (or live in frustration) is that both are full of ups and downs.

Wanole, I feel your pain. My rounds have been similar lately. My last round I shot 90 but made 3 straight birdies at the turn. It's just plain ol silly. I think you hit it, when you said it's "mental".

I guess I need to come to Orlando again real soon.

So true. I thought about it last night and I really am coming to the conclusion I lose 10 shots from bad thoughts. When I play a course I have played before and play a hole I played poorly previously I hit the ball in the same place. Mis-educated hands. :)

That and tempo I think are my big problems. I tend to get quick with the driver and the hooks come in. So I am just going to work on tempo next time out.
