Losing It

I just read it again. Indeed good stuff.

Here is a good quote from a book I doubt anyone has ever read.

"The player who can most readily produce the faulty shot by design is the player who is least likely either to produce the shot by accident or to be worried by it if he does. To know how to commit is to know how to cure".

I've always believed that you can fix a slicer by teaching him/her to "how" to slice not "how not" too.

My favorite thread was the Dentman thread on how to hit down and not flip. I don't know if its in the archives or not.

After reading that thread in its entirety, noticed that the question was really never answered. Brian at one time thought the term "Lose It" was for the guy who shoots great one day and the next can't deliver, I don't think that was the intention of the first post. IMO he was truely talking about "Losing It" during a round. It happens to me all the time, I'll shoot a 36 on the front and follow it up with a 45, same guy who hit every fairway and hit every green.......

Is it possible that it is something as simple as antcipating results, sounds simple but very hard to mentally detach yourself. Listen I know my pattern is probably flawed, but it was that pattern that got me the 36.......so what happens out there?

Brian answered the question he said

Why does a golfer lose it?

Because they change something, on purpose or on accident. And, as a living being, THEY are always changing THEMSELVES every second. And, your TOTAL EXPERIENCE as a golfer and as a person changes every shot and every second.

"Golfers will probably never make precisely the same pattern twice in a lifetime." —Homer Kelley

I accept this as a good answer, however I need my next question to be answered by Brian. What rule or rules would you start over to get back on track?...joe

Hehehe ya that's a good one.

With my post (on lag pressure).....nowadays I would add "tracing a good plane line" as something that can go (or at least has often gone) goofy on me. (too far to the right) I know now.
