I am wondering if an open stance will promote hip rotation on the downswing? My hips seem to stop rotating and my swing too sweep. Also wondering if an open stance will flatten my swing.
The latest Golf tips magazine has an article about flaring your lead foot toward the target which in the article writer's feeling helps to encourage hip rotation. Might be easier to try than to change how you allign your self to the target.
well, if you open your stance and leave the rest of the body parallel there might be some issues. If you setup your whole body "open" to lets say hit a fade or a slice, it almost forces a steeper angle on the downswing and a slightly outside-in-swing which creates the fade or slice.
I don't know if that's something MORAD teaches or not. That has always been a characteristic of Nicklaus', who claims he didn't know it, until someone pointed it out.
