Orange Whip

OMG, talk about love at first swing. 10 minutes after the FedEx guy left my house I'm in love with a fruit. From a guy that didn't have a real dynamic pivot, this thing is hopefully going to change my game for the better. After switching back to an iron, it felt totally different. My tempo has also seemed much better. Will hit some balls at the range tonight and if I remember I'll report back (if any interest).

PS This might just be the "new relationship excitement" so hopefully it doesn't fizzle out. :)

you went to the range in the monsoon?

i have an orange whip. big fan. great to stretch. great to get a feel for a real, body driven pivot.

it helped my tempo within a few days of doing the suggested workout from the orange whip website. it also helped ingrain that "lag" feeling in my swing.

make sure you swing it (do the drills) from both sides to balance the musculature.

Hope it works out and sticks Curtis. I'm interested in hearing your report, I've heard alot of good things about the orange whip. Which one did you end up getting?

I bought the "golden" version so both my wife and I could use it. I didn't have time for the range last night so I'll report back later. Woke up sore today since I swung that sucker a bunch last night. So if you ever buy one don't swing it a bunch for the first time if you have to play anything meaningful the next day.

did the excitement wear off?

Here's the deal. I didn't have a very dynamic pivot (per Jim K) before probably because I wasn't doing it right. I was very upper body pivot and my hips were sort of passive. So when I started swinging the Orange Whip it gave me a great feeling. But now I'm not sure if that great feeling was even correct. Now I'm trying to get my hips more active which gives me a total different feeling. It seems to give me more power and I'm still working on it. Because of this I haven't used the Whip much.

I have 2 of them the gold and the original and I love them.
great for feel ing the pivot and strengthening the core muscles

I just got one this week. For me it seems that it promotes a flatter backswing, so I have to concentrate on using my normal backswing.

or find a sidehill, box, something that puts you above ground, that allows you to swing the whip on a more upright plane.

I don't quite understand the flat swing comment.....for me it promotes a motion that causes lag and a late release. Have shot some of my best rounds since using it.....I also must add that I did have a 1/2 hour lesson with Brian 2 weeks ago when he was in Las Vegas. So Brian + whip = 77 with 3, 3 putts.

It's just how I start to swing the Whip. I have worked real hard on path lately and don't want to mess that up. But, I do like the way it feels when swinging it.

Don't get me wrong, the swing a heavy club thing makes sense to me.

I'm just using this thread to point out that in golf opposites pop up. So I'm reading about the Whip, and on the TV is the promo spot for the opposite.
The promoters of the "Swingnature" (sp) claim that swinging a light training device is the only way to go. Heavy club bad, light club good.

Upon reflection, I just smile.
