Past parallel

Float loader here and I have a tendency to go past parallel since I try to keep my wrists extra loose. Anyone else have this problem? No reason to go past correct, just problems?

PS I'm aware of JD, you don't have to remind me....Thanks!!

What you have to avoid is SLACK!

Make sure that your arms STOP when you shoulders STOP TURNING. If the arms keep going you've got slack and you'll have issues.

Basically, timing.

If you have slack, that means something has to "catch up" and 2 things are gonna happen:

1) Either it won't, and you'll shank/push it
2) You will and you'll have to flip it to do it.

Jim,

ANy drills or tips that you have used to teach someone to get rid of the slack? This especially plagues me with the driver.

Avoiding slack

I second what Jim is saying. I have the same problem with slack and I have found that when I maintain extensor action to the top of backswing I eliminate the slack.

The best way I have found for me to feel the extensor action is to wear a long-sleeved jacket or sweater and take my left arm out of the sleeve. I push down with my right arm to take the slack out of the sleeve and swing to the top of my backswing keeping the left sleeve taut but not tight. You can also do the same thing using rope or rubber tubing held under the arm pit.

Ben Doyle gave me a tip for practicing extensor action. Take a regular club and maintain extensor action to the end of your backswing. When you reach that point stop and take your left hand off the club. If you are maintaining extensor action properly the right hand, holding the club, should move away from the body and the elbow extend. (Brian or team correct me if I got this wrong) This is how Ben tripped up Yoda at Canton.

Good luck

Long Backswing.

If you don't:

Reverse Pivot

Bend your right arm more than 90°

Double-Cock your left wrist a bunch

Have NO extensor action
Your backswing is NOT TOO LONG!!!

And....even if you do these things and your backswing is "so-called" too long...

I have a student you hits his shoulder on the backswing, and he can beat most of you.

I think he means normal cock as per acc #3 plus leaving the FLW condition to suppinate (sp? - Hoganism I think) the left wrist. Similar feeling as though you were bringing a microphone to your face with your left hand.

I'm not TGM conversant. clarify acc#3...:D (supinate, one "p"..:))

Oh....sorry....some TGM terms ;)

DOUBLE-COCKED

Cocked and BENT left wrist, which anatomically allows for more wrist cock, and also more #2 ACCUMULATOR angle depending on grip type..

#2 Accumulator

The amount of angle between the shaft and the left arm, in the plane of the "LEFT ARM FLYING WEDGE."

LEFT ARM FLYING WEDGE video short soon...

DOUBLE-COCKED

Cocked and BENT left wrist,
Thanks..

Just so i get this clearly, I understand "cocked" as being radial flexion (hand/thumb pulled towards forearm as much as it can go in "thumbs up" position).. is that the same?..

Does "BENT" mean cupped back or bowed?....
