Paul Casey - The Quiet One

After this weeks PGA Championship win, Paul is now number 3 in the World ranking, but he doesn't get a lot of publicity (if you discount all that I hate Yanks Ryder cup stuff a few years back).

Whats the view on his game and swing, he seems to have a very compact swing, great power and good tempo, most of his misses seemed to be left.

Paul Casey has a really good swing, but it is, imho, very timing dependant. His swing coach is Peter Kostis (yep, Mr. Konika Minolta BizHub SwingVision himself), who advocates a very handsy, near flip release. When Casey is on, he really plays well, but he frequently gets way too much in-out, overcooks the hands, and ends up in left field.

At least, that's what I have observed.

In the videos above, it looks like the driver swing is going way right, and in the fairway wood swing, the hands are held off through impact a good amount. Maybe trying to fade the ball that day? Anyways, I do like the pivot action, especially allowing the left heel to come up and replant. You don't see that very much today, but it really helps the kinetic chain snap. Makes me think I should go back to it... hmm....
