Yesterday while watching the golf tournament pete kostis was showing a golfer who had gotten a new tip with his swing. kostis said his backswing was always good but the tip was on the downswing the golfer would turn his left hip to replace his r hip (arrow goes from L hip to R hip in front of the body)and then would pivot with his r hip. How could the left hip go back while swinging forward. Should he mean to say turn his left hip rear? Any one see this?

I saw it. I think the description meant pivot around right hip during downswing.
Described as a swing thought, not necessarily a reality. Kostis' description was
none too clear.

My favorite "Kostisism" is when a player hits a long drive or makes a putt and he says, "Thats why he's one of the longest players" or "Thats why he's one of the best putters" He may as well show a picture of Yao Ming, and say "Thats why he's so tall"

I hate his hairpiece too.

Absolutely, Peter Kostis has a formula and you already realise that most successful broadcasters create a formula because under pressure they need to be able to say something that sounds good. As you know this that means that it's not about if that sounds like a random statement, its actually about the significance and nessesity why he does this and that means you find it easy that you will not be so irritated in the future.

I remember once him saying VJ Singh had a lot of hip turn in the backswing and thats what creates so much power from him, then on another occasion he said Tiger hadnt got much hip turn in the backswing and thats why he is so long. Thats a contradiction isn't it?

He's being asked to come up with something pretty quickly on the spot, to commentate on the recently taped swing that they're showing. To golf swing enthusiasts like us, he comes off sounding clueless.

I'm not sure what his actual golf swing knowledge is like, but don't think that I would base my entire opinion of him on those kinds of comments. Although, I would think that he could not-contradict himself pretty easily...

I think even Kostis realizes there is more than one way to accomplish something.

It really isn't a contradiction at all. According to pop swingology, having a massive upper body turn with very little hip turn creates torque on the downswing. However, a lot of players are long because they turn their hips a lot too.

Yeah, but in presenting it to the layman, he's confusing. The guy watching at home, making notes, goes, "okay, I have to have more hip turn to hit it further." Then, a month later, he writes down, "I need to restrict my hip turn to hit it further." Let the confusion begin.

I love watching the Swingvision stuff. I have to admit I usually turn the sound off if I happen to have the remote in my hand. Kostis is in a tough spot coming up with something to talk about as the slow mo goes. I do agree that some of the stuff he says surprises a golf swing knowledge 1st grader like myself. Cannot really say what he knows or does not know.

I really like the balance in this perspective. It makes me ashamed that I will always hate him because he made Freddie cry.

Kostis knows well enough not to rubbish a Touring Pro on TV.
He doen't do commercial suicide.
