Pin left, Pin right

Could be wrong, but didn't Nicklaus say something about just aiming at the middle (though i suspect that was with long approaches/under pressure)?

I grew up playing this way, and to my detriment, I probably still play/think this way. A sky-high 6 iron from 205 to a back left pin was not feasible or even considered 20 years ago. A trap-hook 4 iron that skips back there, maybe.

I kinda think its sad that young players (with a few exceptions) don't work the ball enough. Nobody ever says, "Great shot!" when you hit it 25 feet right of the hole.

I grew up trying to emulate Nicklaus' fade technique. I guarantee that's still my tendency.
I'm sure there are plenty of guys on here who are too young to have ever played a balata ball. Titleist Black Balata 100's were hard and curved a bunch, often for the worst.

I quit golf from 1994 to about 2004. When I returned the ball had changed and pretty much tended go much straighter. Iron's not much had changed, woods, OMG what a difference.

Now I really try to hit straight shots unless the a fade or draw is required. Fade is much easier for me.
