Pivot for driver

In Brian's interview he mentions something about how you have to slow down the pivot with the driver. Why is this and has anyone have good results doing this? Thanks

I think Brian said that it was from the engineers with Pingman said they had to slow down the pivot to square up the club face with the driver. I would say it is due to the length of the club. I haven't really tried it on purpose, but do hit the driver better with a swing that feels to me like about 70-80% of effort.

When I played high school golf (20+ years ago) I worked with a great old-school pro who taught me a ton about the short game and course management. He gave me a rather awful grip and setup (but it did repeat under pressure) and so I no longer think about much of any of his approach to the full swing.

But with respect to "slowing down the pivot," he used to always say as we moved up up through the bag on the range: "remember, it's longer so you have to wait for it." That's not a bad swing thought when it comes to tempo and rhythm. And it would have helped Tiger out A LOT yesterday. He could have just watched his playing partner, whose rhythm with the driver is a thing of beauty.
