Pivot Stops?

Brian...

You've mentioned that the Pivot stops in the downswing...

First of all, where? (I assume around or after Impact...Follow Through?)

Second, why?

Third, if the Pivot stops....what causes it to start again? Does the club pull it through?

...

Those crazy Aussies (lol ;)) are again getting on CF being fake....Radial Accel. (muscular pushing) always is present into Impact they say......different opinions on what causes the Throw-Out Action...what's goin on during Release to Follow Through regarding CF, Throw-Out, Pushing, etc.

If anyone's interested:

That's exactly what I said!

I can't do it (left arm only)...

But I've heard that it's very possible.....JD....Woosnam...

;)

If I recall Search for the Perfect Swing correctly there was a dude with a ponytail that could nail it 300 yards with just his left arm. Can anyone verify?

Matt

Don't know about the ponytail, but in Ch 5 there are sequences of two left-arm-only golfers and one supposedly hit a drive 283 (this is back in the 60's of course). They were handicaps like 8 & 4.

I have seen on TV....some amputee who has the world record for consecutive drives over 300....I don't remember the # of drives but I remember it was quite a few....blew my mind at the time...

I can't remember if it was right or left arm only tho...

Anyone know anything about the Pivot stopping?

i think that it is like cracking a whip...the end doesn't reach max acceleration until your hand stops....

I don't know a lot about kinetic linking but I believe the pivot slows just before impact transferring more speed to the arms, then subsequently the club.

Matt

Pivot slows due to transfer of momentum to club.

Slowing of pivot cannot deliver more speed to the the arms. The golfswing is largely a rotary motion. Slowing the rotation would be a bad thing. As an analogy, you don't see discus thowers slow at all prior to lettin 'er go.

The golf swing is not much like cracking a whip.

Whatever can do.

It can slide, spin, snap, slide+spin, slide+snap, spin+snap, slide+spin+snap, or whatever, as long as the club is moved.

You obviously don't want to try for any kind of stop lol....that would be DISASTROUS....!.....Charles Barkski....!.....UGH!

Waitin for Brian to chime in...

He was the one I first heard it from....
