Brian,
I really like Confessions but have a hard time with my pivot. The thoughts of the downswing starting from ground up or with the hips just have never worked for me.
I played last night and thought of starting my dowenswing by turning my rib cage left. This really allowed me to feel more lag as well s to "just hold onto the club" (your best tip ever imo). Shots were longer, crisper and better divots (or a divot).
It also allowed me to get to imact, alot like you talk about in COnfessions. My questions is, what should be the first move down and is the rib cage legit?

Yup.

Here a little pivot "story":

The ELEPHANT's head is the PIVOT and the TRUNK is the ARMS/HANDS/CLUB.

SO...

THE GOLFER'S TRUNK (RIB CAGE) is the elephant's head.

Good job!

Whoa, your telling me to start the down swing with my rib cage?????
I have tried every thing in the book that I seen, heard or invented. Latley it is my left shoulder blade. I`ve got to try this, to me this is my biggest problem finding the right way (for me) to start my down swing. Thanks, joe

Rib cage.

The rib cage idea is not new, but the feeling IS different for most golfers who haven't tried it.

It really doesn't matter WHAT you do, as long as you aren't making the ARMS/HANDS/CLUB start first.

Brian, I have had the urge to start down with arms, hands and club first. This is how I was explained to play golf. Get the hands and arms moving and the body will work automatically. Well it sure does not get the pivot to work automatically. Its seems to make the pivot stop. I have lost so much power this last year. Nothing has been crisp like in the past. I have lost atleast 2 clubs distance. Its just feels like its all hands and arms swinging.
I have not been able to square the clubface up. Most all shots are right of target and short.

How would you attack this, small shots with pivot in full control? I want to eliminate this urge to attack by arms and hands. Powerless and waiting your next move.

Thanks

Chris

That "swing the clubhead" stuff is garbage isn't it? Can you say flippity flop?

Unfortunately I went through 18 months of Ernest Jones/Manuel de la Torre/swinging like a girl. I'm just now learning how to strike a golf ball properly. Thanks to lessons from Brian, his videos and this site.

Attack Plan:

1. Read my Perfect Pivot Articles.

2. Watch "Never Hook Again" & "Pivot Wars" (Manzella Shorts 3 & 4)

Report back.
