Pivoting like Crazy is Crazy....Can we explore this

Very interested in comments that address the idea of "too much pivot motion???" Can there be too much and are we talking primarily hips or shoulders or knees, or all? That is, how does too much pivot motion disrupt a solid swing?

I am very flexable and sometimes feel like my big pivot causes issues with consistency of my swing through the strike, AND contributes to a swing that is too long.

If you look at the huge thread about the release--around page 88 and forward-- a real good discussion about this was had. First, when Brian said this, he was referring to the pivot during the downswing to and through impact. Here's my take on it; for those of us that were trained to "drag the handle" with our pivot, we need to limit all of the body pivot while getting the clubhead sweetspot to line up in proper impact conditions for the shot we are hitting. To me, that means after the transition, your feet feel anchored to the ground and you are using your hands/arms to get that clubhead sweetspot to the ball as quickly as you need to while not trying to "power" it with your hips, knees...etc. I think after the transition, because there is still a bit of a lateral shift/bump just prior to the transition. But, as Brian has pointed out, you do not want to have a "tug" on the hands from the top.

Feel free to correct my thoughts as I'm sure there is more to be learned about this.

Here are my opinions on it:

Can you create more clubhead speed by "pivoting like crazy?" Probably, but it's a negligible amount and in most cases the "line up" of the club face/head will suffer thus reducing ball speed anyhow. So in most of those instances you would have been better off by pivoting a normal amount for you and just focusing on the best contact and/or line up you could have.

I figured out a while ago (for my own game) to stop trying to create so much body "turn" in the swing and focus more on better contact because i might be able to get the ball to go further but not necessarily where i need it to go so what's the point?
