For some, yes. There's a down move into the ground but it's sometimes disguised by how much early rotation there is. Others have an out shift before there's a downplane shift.

What has worked to help me get the club at least near the shaft plane is to get my hands pretty high, and then drop them before turning your shoulders. Brian has video out there called "catch the drop" you may want to search it out on YouTube
Why don't people get it yet? He doesn't necessarily prefer one thing over another, but will teach you what it takes to do it right.
