Ok I've been working hard on coming more on plane instead of under it, but can't quite find a swing key to help, I can hit balls with a cardboard box outside of it but without it I still swing under, and I'm wondering if the motion is similar to pulling the ball in baseball? Would I want my hands to go more towards third base? any help would be appreciated

The downswing direction is instinctive, but complications arise if the setup and backswing are less than desireable.

Posture at address, including the grip, and mechanics of the backswing have a strong influence on how your body reacts when you reverse direction from the top.

Of course, it's important to understand the mechanics of the downswing. There are only two basic methods of making a downswing motion, either actuating from the top down with the upper body, or from the bottom up with the lower body. Make sure you totally understand the difference between the two methods.

from reading posts and watching brian's videos it helped me big time. i was working on the plane so hard and couldnt quite grasp it. i finally realized that when i got to the half way back position w/ the club parallel to the target line and the toe up I had a tendency to get my arms swinging behind my body and into the deadzone (because i was trying to swing what i thought was a circle)
IT WAS UNTIL I WAtCHED BRIANS VIDEO EPISODE 3 AND BAM ALONG WITH HANK HANEY'S ONE PIECE TAKE AWAY VIDEO THAT I FINALLY FIGURED OUT THAT FROM THE HALF WAY POINT THE ARMS SWING "UP" and not behind you (assuming you have a 2 plane swing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i cant tell you what i differece this has made for me. I am still working on it and what a difference.
here is hanks link and also a swing sequence of Jack Nicklaus. check out the up component! I am no pro but this is what has helped me from all that thinking and trying to figure out the plane. AT LEAST FOR NOW THAT IS! I LOVE THIS GAME
